NORTH HAMPTON -- Christopher C. Congdon, 63, of 116 Mill Road, died May 29, 2009, of frontal temporal dementia and ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease), at his home.
He was born Oct. 12, 1945, in Bellow Falls, Vt., to George C. and Lillian (Rock) Congdon. He was raised in Troy and graduated from Phillips Andover Academy and the University of New Hampshire.
After graduation, he served in the U.S. Army Reserves. He began his business career with The First National Bank of Boston as an assistant vice president in charge of operations. After his years at the bank, he became a partner and president of T&S Enterprises, Inc., Londonderry, the largest independently owned food-service company in New Hampshire.
He will be best known for his real estate development projects and as a founder of Quayle Congdon Real Estate, a business he devoted his efforts to since 1988.
He was an avid golfer, member and past president of Abenaqui Country Club; a member of the Beach Club, Rye Beach, the N.H. Senior Golfers Association, St. Theresa's Men's Club, and was a former member of the Red House, Portsmouth.
He was a communicant of St. Theresa Parish in Rye Beach. He was predeceased by a daughter, Sara Lynne.
IN HIS LIFE: Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Carolyn (Rolfe) Congdon; his father, George C. Congdon of Keene; his brother, David J. Congdon and wife, Margot, of Darien, Conn.; his niece, Caroline; and nephews, George and Henry Congdon.
SERVICES: Calling hours are Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Brewitt Funeral Home, 14 Pine St., Exeter. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. in St. Theresa Church, Rye Beach. Burial with military honors will follow in the Exeter Cemetery.
