Daniel Charest Obituary

Daniel R. Charest, 28, of Manchester, NH, passed away on August 4, 2025, after a brief illness.

Born in Manchester on October 25, 1996, he was the beloved son of Alan and Kathryn (Gracyalny) Charest. A lifelong resident of the Queen City, Daniel cherished his hometown roots and the close-knit community that shaped his life.

Daniel was a proud graduate of Manchester West High School, Class of 2017. Though he navigated life with challenges, he met each day with courage, warmth, and an enthusiasm for connecting with others. Daniel was known for his gentle soul, kindness, and caring nature, qualities that touched everyone he met. Daniel was a client of Easter Seals Early Intervention Autism Program and the Moore Center where he had an active presence in his community, contributing through his work at Community Integrated Services, Inc., with the help of his aide, Avery Parent.

His perseverance and dedication were recognized with two awards and a certificate of appreciation from the New Hampshire Housing Finance Authority, honors that reflected his determination and meaningful contributions. Beyond that, Daniel found joy in life's simple pleasures, spending his summers at the family beach house at Hampton Beach, cheering on the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots, enjoying books, music, trains, Dinosaurs, and Disney, and sharing quiet moments with his beloved cats, Lily and Liam. He enjoyed scripting and journaling. His last words on his iPad were, "There's no one like me!"

In addition to his parents of Manchester, family members include a brother, Kevin Charest; his paternal grandmother, Norma Charest of Manchester; two uncles, Steve Gracyalny and his wife, Donna, of Candia, and Anthony Charest and his wife, Dina, of Manchester; an aunt, Susan Charest (Lisa Maloney), of Manchester; maternal step-grandmother, Sandy Gracyalny; an uncle, Joe Gracyalny of Georgia; his cousins, Anna Charest, Morgan Charest, Kim Gracyalny, Conor Gracyalny, Patrick Gracyalny and Jenna, Colby, Rachelle, Amy and Shawn Demarche, Tiffany and Tyler Sasseville, Cody and Kailie Petit, and Joseph Demers. He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Jerry and Mary (Clougherty) Morris and Stephen Gracyalny, Sr.; his paternal grandfather, Robert Charest; an uncle, Kenneth Charest; his godfather, Andy Beliveau and aunt, Katie (Clougherty) Beliveau; and Alan and Kathy's matchmaker, Aunt, Mary Trumble.

To Daniel's family,
I am saddened to hear of Daniel's passing. I was his aide at MST. He was such a sweet, kind student. Although Daniel never spoke to me, we had a special rapport. He always participated in class and did a good job. My fondest memory of Daniel was when his Mom brought him for a visit to MST and he spotted me in the hallway. He ran up to me and gave me a big hug. I was so touched it brought me to tears. When Daniel wanted quiet time, he and I would walk around the school delivering supplies and I would tell him stories. He seemed to enjoy our time together and so did I. May your memories of Daniel comfort you during this time of sorrow. Daniel rest in eternal peace.
