Dwight Damon Obituary

Dr. Dwight F. Damon, 93, a longtime active resident of Merrimack, NH died Sunday June 1, 2025, in Merrimack after a sudden illness. He was born in Nashua, NH on April 10, 1932, a son of the late Harold A. and Dorothy (Frost) Damon. Dr. Damon was a longtime Chiropractor and Hypnotist in Merrimack and was the founder of the National Guild of Hypnotists. Throughout the years he was awarded Merrimack Citizen of the Year (1978 & 1987) for his dedication to Merrimack through his role with the July 4th Festivities and numerous other achievements. By age 13, he had earned the title of "New England's Youngest Professional Magician" and was recognized in the Who's Who of New England Entertainment. His passion for performance evolved into a lifelong dedication to Magic, Circus and Hypnosis. Many people remember Dr. Damon in the 70's from his TV Show Ring-A-Ding the Clown on Channel 9 along with his weekly appearances doing Magic on the Uncle Gus Show. In 1975, Governor Meldrim Thomson Jr. named him as NH's Magical Goodwill Ambassador and many people in Merrimack remember the days that he played Santa Claus as they drove up to meet Santa! Not to mention the numerous years he performed and hosted at the Deerfield Fair. Throughout his remarkable life, Dr. Damon achieved an extraordinary list of accomplishments. In 1986 he dedicated himself to building the world's largest hypnosis membership organization, The National Guild of Hypnosis-promoting safe, ethical, and professional standards in the field. His unwavering vision was to elevate hypnosis as a separate and distinct profession-a respected and practical tool for helping people overcome everyday challenges. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his first wife Lois (Sloan) Damon who died in 1992; his second wife Margaret "Maggie" Damon who died in 2006; a son Sloan Damon in 2018; a daughter Melody (Damon) Bachand in 2017; a grandson Damon Huard in 2016; a granddaughter Melissa Dawn Bachand in 1976; and two brothers Earl and Lane Damon. Members of his surviving family include two daughters, Dawn Damon Huard, and Holly Damon; a son Eric Damon and his wife Lisa; nine grandchildren, Stephanie, Adam, Sarah, Allie, Christopher, Jereme, Craig, Jessica and Spencer; several great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Not sure what to say?

My sincere condolences to the Damon family. I feel privileged that Dwight asked me to perform on his Saturday morning shows and also worked with him & Sam the Tramp at the Hampton Beach Shell stage
One summer! It was a great experience to work with him! I was a dancing Raggedy Anne, popping out of the roof of the little house
Which I can only dream of those memories now! Great memories! He brought such joy to all! R.I.P. “Ring a Ding “
Respectfully, Pat Perreault, (Pat Angel Dance Studio)

Dear Damon family
Your dad was a wonderful man. Always the biggest smile always happy to see me. I used to love when I would be working in the front of our yard.and he would pull over to say helloas our house was on his way to and from his and I also loved that he always called me “Jamie Lee” like my grandparents did.
He was a dear friend, best friend, to my grandfather, Windy and I have such fun memories of the two of them together. The shenanigans and stories that they both used to tell were just amazing .My grandfather always keeping Dwight on his toes.!! I know that my grandfather was so happy to see him when he arrived in heaven
Dwight also loved my Grandmothers Lemon meringue pie and she made many for him throughout the years.and now they are all forever neighbors ❤
I also wanted to say how proud he must be of you all, and what a wonderful family he raised.during the past two days, the love that you all have for each other and the love that you all have for your dad and grandfather was just wonderful to see. He surly has a beautiful loving family and I know you alll will carry on his legacy with pride. I can’t imagine how difficult it will be without himthe rock to your family.but as you all navigate life without him , I know you will see reminders of him everywhere and in yourselves because a presence like his was is forever .
Also I just loved seeing his car today with his license plate. MAGIC it made me smile ❤
Love to you all
Jamie Lee and David Williams

I grew up in Merrimack and have very fond, lasting memories of the best in state, maybe New England, July 4th festivities of the mid-late '70s and early '80s. I know Mr. Damon had a big part in putting on that event and for that I will always be grateful. Additionally, his appearances on the Uncle Gus show were always 'magical' to me. I wish Eric and the rest of the family well, and lives as long and impactful as Mr. Damon's.

Heaven is receiving a wonderful man, a man who was so dedicated to everything he did in his life. He always cared that things were done properly. He was a man of so much wisdom. As Dawn would always say when we were in school,my dad is the best he makes everyone happy and laugh. She was right her dad was a truly wonderful, caring, dedicated man. Dwight it's time for you to rest, fly high with the angels and enjoy you will never be forgotten.

Dad/Papa

Our hearts are heavy as we write this, trying to grasp the reality that you're gone. The world feels different now — quieter, lonelier — without your presence. You were more than a father or grandfather to us; you were always there with your witty banter, our guide, and the one we could always talk to no matter what.

Thank you for your endless love, your patience, and the quiet strength you carried so gracefully. You taught us not just how to live, but how to love, how to be kind, and how to stay strong in the face of life’s hardest moments — like this one.

We miss you deeply, more than ever imagined possible. But we take comfort in knowing your love will always be a part of us. We will carry you in our hearts, always and forever.

Dad, You were and are an amazing man, you accomplished so much in your life that I just can't list it all. You brought smiles and happiness to so many. But aside from all that, we could not have had a greater dad than you. Loving, caring, always there for us, you made us laugh, you taught us well. I really think you will be watching over us. It will take time to except reality that you are not with us, but you are in our hearts forever.
I am so proud to be your daughter and you my dad. You will be missed so much by your family but others who knew you as well . I love you with all that I have
