Evangeline Popp Obituary

On January 9, 2017, Evangeline Josephine (Matragas) Popp, with the same peace and grace in which she lived, was united with her Heavenly Father, her loving husband, Robert ""Bob"" Popp and her daughter, Sharon Lee Popp. She leaves behind her son, Alan T. Popp and his wife, Cindy; her daughters, Marylou I. Bissonnette, Louise E. Popp, Nancy A. Popp and her husband, Bradford Baylies and Robin R. Popp.

Born in Pittsburgh, PA on February 9, 1926, Vange married Bob in May of 1944. Bob and Vange moved to New Hampshire with their family in 1970, where they owned and operated ""The Showcase"" furniture store in Manchester and Hooksett.

Vange enjoyed volunteering, along with Bob, for many charitable organizations, most recently for New Horizons for New Hampshire and the Salvation Army. She enjoyed gardening, reading, appreciating and protecting nature, staying active, and above all else, spending time with her family.

In addition to her immediate family, Vange leaves several grandchildren, Jason and Erin Meyer and their daughters, Natalie and Evangeline, Aimee and John Hall, their daughter, Lexi and son, Alex, Ryan Popp and his daughters, Mary-Elyse and Erin, Ethan Popp and Vanessa Leuck and their son, Aldrin, Tyler and Carlene Malek and their daughter, Ella, Austin Malek, Zachary Severance, Madeline Severance, Bethany Baylies and her daughter, Corinne.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Brookside Congregational Church, 2013 Elm St., Manchester.

In lieu of flowers, financial or volunteer contributions to New Horizons for New Hampshire, 199 Manchester St., Manchester, NH 03103, or to Brookside Congregational Church, 2013 Elm St., Manchester, NH 03104 would be greatly appreciated.

It's been three days since I got the message from you Robin of your mom's passing...I am still kind of Frozen, I want it to be not true .... it's never easy to let go of those we love, and I loved your mom very much!!! She had a long well lived life...she was loved by her man in a way that was so special. I remember finding both your mom and dad at the mall years ago going for a walk..... But first I would see your dad, ( God rest His soul he must be so happy to have his sweetheart home with him again) walking into the mall alone and i would ask Him, "where is Vange?".... Ohhh he would answer I drop her at the door...and than he would continue by saying that in all the years they were married he love his wife more and more every day... first thing i do in the morning Vangie he would say to me, when i put my feet on the floor is pray and thank than Lord for another day, than i ask him to help me love my wife a little more today than yesterday..... that has amount to a lot of loving over the years...he would say. Many times i asked him to consider giving lessons to young men about marriage and how to love their wives. Vange was truly loved by her husband in a very special way! but Vange was loved by all in her family, by all her grandchildren and everyone who knew Vange loved her. she embraced everyone with a sincere love with an open heart, she had compassion in her heart for all and loved her Lord with a great love and lived a life that pleased her savior! We are sad to see the matriarch of the Popp family go back home to Heaven and she will be missed so much by her family and all who knew her and loved her.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Popp family and Jason, Erin, Evangeline and Natalie Meyer in this time of sadness. We know Jason was particularly close to his grandfather and grandmother. Keep all those good memories of them close to your heart. The Goodhue/Alcorn/Ribaudo Family
