Janet Corriveau Obituary

Janet Corriveau passed away peacefully on May 3. She left behind a legacy shaped by family devotion, educational excellence and cultural exploration. Born in Galveston, Texas on June 20, 1945, she was the first-born daughter of Alphonse and Josephine (Kleczynska) Corriveau.

Janet was educated in the Manchester School system and was deeply devoted to her Catholic faith. A violinist in high school, she remained a lover of classical music, concerts, ballets and family music celebrations throughout her life. She was a magna cum laude graduate of University of New Hampshire and was a member of the Alpha Delta Kappa, an honorary society for educators, Community Concerts and the Manchester Garden Club .

Generations of third grade students at Manchester's Green Acres School will fondly remember her Flag Day presentation, kilt -clad student sing-alongs/marches, and the newly-hatched ducklings she introduced for play in the puddles outside of her classroom window. Above all else, her students were kindly nurtured and consistently motivated to do their best; they inevitably emerged with a solid foundation in reading, writing and arithmetic. In addition to her love for her students, Janet prized the camaraderie of her school colleagues.

Janet travelled extensively throughout the country and Europe. She planned multiple, unforgettable trips for her parents and siblings. She frequently travelled to Ireland to collect Belleek (Irish Parian china). She spent many summers in Poland to learn more about her Polish heritage through the Koscuisko foundation. Her passion for Polish art, music, crafts and history led her to learn the Polish language, to collect authentic Polish costumes and to conduct workshops to share her knowledge of Polish history and culture.

Janet's boundless generosity and loving care of her family and friends were in the manner of her mother and father. Be it flowers from her garden, cards for every occasion crafted with beautiful handwritten sentiments, treats and other surprises left on doorsteps for any and for all manner of family and friend gatherings, her time, talent and thoughtfulness shone through at every turn.

Family members include sisters, Lynda Lubelczyk and Nancy Gorczyca; brothers, John Corriveau and David Corriveau (predeceased in March 2024); nieces, Vanessa, Kerry and Aubrey; nephews , Joe, Jason, Neil and Alek; grandnephew; grandnieces and cousins.

Calling hours will be at Lambert Funeral Home, 1799 Elm St. Manchester on Tuesday May 14 from 4-7pm. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 15 at 10am at Blessed Sacrament Church, 14 S. Elm St. Manchester. Burial will be private for the family.

For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to: The Janet Corriveau Memorial Scholarship Fund c/o St. Mary's Bank, 207 Hooksett Rd. Manchester, NH 03104.

Miss Corriveau was my favorite teacher! Even as I progressed in school I would walk to Green Acres to help her clean or do anything that needed to be done. We would run errands and I was so excited to ride in her green Mustang. Her home was surrounded with plants and flowers. My first plant was in her class in the third grade. When ever Karen Vining and I were going to Dicks we would stop at the school to see her.
I last saw her when I was working at Sam's Club. She was her sweet, funny, pleasant self. She helped me more than she ever knew! Thank you!!
RIP Miss C!!
My condolences to her family!

" Miss Corriveau" was "that" teacher that left the greatest impression on my life. I was her student at Varney School 1968-69 and kept in touch until somehow that connection was lost about 15 years ago. It was wonderful to read her obituary and know that she was truly the woman that I so admired.
I too remember that car Chris !! Rest in peace

I had Miss Corriveau for 3rd grade at Green Acres around 1980. She was the best teacher. I remember our productions on stage. She was very interested in the history of my ancestry being a descendant of Josiah Bartlett, NH signer of the Declaration of Independence. I ran into her 17 years ago at a store and she remembered me from so long ago. We chatted about what was in the newspaper about Josiah's estate at the time. I often would see her doing her civic duty at the polling location. I fondly remember the ducking hatchings. We learned a catchy song for remembering all 50 states. I won the large wall US map that we painted to practice the song. She was such a fabulous teacher and a great person. My deepest condolences to her family & friends.

My thoughts and prayers to the entire Corriveau family. Janet will certainly be missed by all of you as well as all her close friends. I feel so fortunate to have taught and become friends with such a unique and special person. We always shared so many teaching stories that continued throughout our retirement years. I will miss our letters, cards and long talks sitting out in her beautiful yard! She was a true inspiration to all her colleagues at Green Acres School!

Ms. Corriveau was the greatest teacher to ever grace our education system. I still remember her class 22 years later, from the "visit from st Nicholas" play, chimney prop and all, to hatching the ducklings or making our own whipped cream from scratch. With her it was always a hands on fascinating lesson that captivated the minds of her students and sparked eagerness to learn. She´s the reason I began playing musical instruments throughout my life when she convinced me to play the cello. She will be greatly missed and forever revered by all who were blessed with the opportunity of being her student. A truly angelic woman and teacher.

I taught with Janet at Green Acres in the 1980's. Everytime I walked in her classroom I was mesmerized by her educational displays done with the flare of a true creative teacher. She was a consummate professional, enthusiastic about teaching and exhibited much warmth and concern for her young students. I am grateful to have known her and worked with her.

I live in Janet´s neighborhood, I would walk by her house on many mornings and see her outside tending to her flowers and yard, my nephew had her as a teacher and spoke highly of her, on trash day she would leave cold waters on her trash cans, such a kind soul, Rest in Janet. Pierrette Moram

I am saddened to hear of the passing of Miss Corriveau. She was my third grade teacher circa 1980. Her passion for teaching made me LOVE school. Her violin playing made me value music. Her appreciation for nature and creative instructional practices influenced my career path as a Biology teacher. I will never forget timed math tests, listening to Dr. Seuss books on the record player, and writing "Viola the Violin" (inspired by Miss Corriveau) for the Young Authors Conference. She was one of a kind and will be fondly remembered.

Like many others who will inevitably leave their condolences, Mrs. Corriveau was my favorite teacher.

In her third grade class I learned to waltz, master multiplication and cursive, learn an incredible amount about the Presidents of the United States, and to always remain curious.

Her passion for teaching and love of her students was evident each and every day. I credit her for teaching me to read and having confidence in my ability to succeed. I proudly returned to her classroom my senior year in college to thank her for believing in me.

Mrs. Corriveau bummed into my parents a few years back and shared with her that I´m now a second grade teacher. I hope to be half the teacher to my littles as she was to me.

My aunty Janet was the most thoughtful and generous person I´ve ever known.

She had so much to teach and took a genuine interest in everyone she met.

I´ll miss her kind words and soothing sentiments. I´ll miss her cards that she´d leave on my doorstep, items with detailed notes on it, or some fashion magazine she thought I´d like.

She was my favorite to talk to and I´ll miss our long conversations about flowers, jewelry, clothing, cats, my dad, Poland, and so many other things.

Life won´t be the same without you Janet and I know you and my dad are together and at peace

Janet ( " Miss Corriveau ") was my beloved 3rd grade teacher at Varney School in 1967-68 ( before she went "across the river" to teach @ Green Acres). She drove a really cool olive green Pontiac Firebird ! Her obituary beautifully states what a wonderful , vivacious , caring soul she was . I´ll miss her immensely .
