John Sheridan Obituary

John D. Sheridan, "Jay", passed away on April 20th, 2024

John was born in Whitefield, NH in 1927 and enjoyed his boyhood youth in Berlin, NH. He attended UNH and graduated in 1952. He moved to Manchester in 1962.

For most of his years, he worked in sales. At a young age, he became a pilot in the Air Force and then continued in the Reserves, eventually making rank of Lieutenant Colonel.

His great love was skiing. He met his wife Ann at Cranmore and together they raised three children traveling to all the mountains that New England has to offer. He was also a great competitor in Masters Ski racing. One other continued passion worth noting was his love of hiking in to bogs and streams to fly fish for wild trout; they topped the menu at the much loved annual fish fry for family and friends.

John was a devout Catholic and spent a lot of years at St. Francis worshipping and helping out.

John is survived by his loving children; John "Chip" Sheridan of NH, Kristin "Cissy" Devin of Washington. Additionally, John is survived by four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Ann Sheridan and son, Patrick E. Sheridan.

A funeral Mass is planned for Thursday, July 18th, 2024 at 11 a.m. at St. Francis Church, Litchfield, NH. Burial will be in his hometown of Berlin at a later date.

Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, Manchester, is assisting with arrangements.

I thoroughly enjoyed our visits. He would come to see me at the bank a couple times a month to ask a quick question, tell me a story of his life, share some laughs and go on with his day, always with a newspaper in hand!

Cissy and Chip
I am so sorry to hear about your Dad. I have such wonderful memories of skiing with your family. I loved hearing your Dad yodeling down the slopes. He was a great guy.

I remember stopping by his house and he was doing some maintenance on the roof. As he made his way down the ladder he skipped the last 4 or 5 rungs and shook my hand with his vise like grip. This was when he was in his seventies.
Thanks for being a friend Mr. J and I hope you and Al Sise are reminiscing about your racing days in the Masters and going over the head wall at Tuckermans ravine!
