Richard Stoner Obituary

Richard V. Stoner, 101 years of Union City, IN passed away on October 6, 2025, at Morrison Woods Health Campus in Muncie, IN.
Richard was the eighth of ten children born to Clarence and Erma Stoner. Home was Pike Township, Jay County where he started school in a one room school. In 1942 he graduated from Madison Township High School.
After graduation Richard served in the Army from 1943 to 1946. His duty took him to Europe where he fought in The Battle of the Bulge and other action leading up to troops crossing the Rhine River into Germany.
On a bus ride home, he met Virginia Uptygraft. That chance meeting led to their marriage in 1947. Five children were born from that union... Sandra, Alan, Gregory, Lisa, and Brenda.
Richard's professional life consisted of 20 plus years at Union City's Chevrolet Garage. He also had 20 years at Hub City Finance. He had also served as a board member for the cemetery board as well as a board member for Union Trust Bank.
Per his wishes there will be no public services.
