Margaret McShea Obituary

It is with deep sorrow that we share the passing of Margaret Magee McShea, beloved mother and wife, on March 7. 2026, at her home in Bonita Springs, FL.

Born on November 27, 1942, in Long Branch, NJ she was 83. She is survived by her husband William, daughter Nancy McShea, her wife Patti French-McShea and granddaughter Molly French-McShea all of Cape Coral, FL, and grandson Kyle French-McShea and fiancé Erin Midea of Fort Myers, FL. Her sister Nancy Jean Hahn of Oak Island, NC and her sister-in-law, Laurette "Fudgie" Mullen of Manchester, NH also survive her. She was preceded in death by her son William Eugene Magee, and her parents Eugene Mortemore Magee and Gertrude Regina Magee (Spoerl).

Margaret, also known as Peggy, was an elementary school teacher for 33 years in the town of Merrimack, NH at Thornton's Ferry School. She received her BS in Education from Keene State College in Keene, NH, and went on to achieve her MS in Education from Notre Dame College in Manchester, NH.

She loved working with children.

She married William "Bill" in Fair Haven, NJ in 1965, and they recently celebrated their 60th anniversary. They lived in Manchester, NH and for many years in Merrimack, and then Nashua before finally moving to Bonita Springs, FL in 2017 after having spent many winters there.

Her life was all about family and friends. She was an avid downhill skier, and loved collecting shells along Florida's beautiful beaches. With her husband and children, she spent 41 years RVing around the country and Canada, and especially loved Alaska, and Newfoundland in the Canadian Maritimes. She thoroughly enjoyed the sport of bean bagging, winning many trophies in the rv resort she lived in. Bicycling was another favorite pastime, often biking 30 miles a week, and she led a bicycle club for many years in Bonita. Over the years she had many dogs as pets and supported all efforts to protect them. And although she only went on 3, she loved an ocean cruise.

At her request, in lieu of flowers, she asked that donations be made to the local American Cancer Society.
