ST. SIMON'S, Ga. --Nanci W. Morrison, 71, formerly of Bristol, N.H., died Aug. 12, 2010, at her daughter Jonann's home, surrounded by family.
She was born in West Thornton, N.H., to the late Norton "Poppy" and Evelyn (Hammel) White. She spent her childhood in Thornton and Plymouth and her teenage and early adult years in Bristol. She was a graduate of Bristol High School, class of 1958.
As a young wife and mother, she helped start and run the Save-a-Day Launderette in Bristol. In 1979, she moved to St. Simon's Island, Ga., where she worked at the Sea Island Resort for a number of years.
IN HER LIFE: Family members include two sons, JP (Beth) Morrison Jr., of Bristol, N.H.; Joe (Gina) Morrison of Alexandria, N.H.; two daughters, Jonann (Dana) Torsey of New Hampton, N.H.; Jill Morrison of Auburn, N.H.; nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; her devoted ex-husband John (Eleanor) Morrison Sr. of Bristol; brother Norton "Sonny" White Jr. of Pompano Beach, Fla., and her beloved dog Chance.
In addition, she will be missed by many cherished friends in Bristol and St. Simon's Island.
SERVICES: Calling hours are Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Emmons Funeral Home, 115 S. Main St., Bristol. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Grace Chapel of Holy Trinity Parish, 2 W. Shore Road, Bristol 03222.
Memorial donations may be made to the N.H. Humane Society, P.O. Box 572, Laconia 03247-0572.
