Norma Blum Obituary

Norma Leoda Clement Blum (nee Gauthier) died peacefully September 2nd, 2023, in her home on Key Biscayne, Florida.

She is survived by her children, Audrey Smith, of Bellingham WA., Lloyd Clement and wife Julie, Manchester, N.H., and Dale Clement and wife Jeannie of Palm Coast, Florida; six grandchildren, Kay Smith Trajkovski of Lakeshore Canada, Shanna Clement Wood of London, England, Sarina Clement Brownlie of San Diego, California, Karissa Clement Merrill of Boca Raton, Florida, Joseph Clement of Manchester, N.H., and Charlotte Clement of Pembroke Pines, Florida; four great-grandchildren, Rosie and Ben Trajkovski of Canada, Graham Merrill of Boca Raton, Florida, and Orla Wood of London, England.

She is preceded in death by her husband Edgar R. Clement in April 1991; and her husband Seymour Blum in October 2005.

Norma was born in Manchester, N.H., on August 21st, 1935, to Fabio and Leoda Gauthier. She was a graduate of Central High School and later married Edgar Clement in 1955. Living in Manchester she was employed by Bee Bee Shoe and Prevue Products as their purchasing and plant manager. In 1986 at age 51 she graduated from UNH with a bachelor's degree in business. In 1994 she moved to LaCrosse Footwear and worked in product development and obtained her own US patent in 1998 for "Gusseted Waders."

Later, she married Seymour Blum and retired to "paradise" in Key Biscayne, where she enjoyed her daily ocean swims "out to the post buoy".

She was an accomplished scuba diver, a lover of reading, mostly WWII books and mysteries. She was sure to do her daily Sudoku and enjoyed playing Backgammon. On Key Biscayne she was an active member of the Key Biscayne Woman's Club and the Delphian Society.

For many years she kept quite busy volunteering at the Miami airport, as an usher at Arsht Center for the Arts in Miami, and two separate building projects for Habitat for Humanity.

She is remembered by family and friends for her kindness, her very adventurous spirit and her welcoming of those in need of help.

A memorial mass will be held at St. Agnes Church Key Biscayne FL, on Friday September 29th at noon.

A memorial for burial on the Neptune Memorial Coral Reef will be scheduled later.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Habitat for Humanity.

As her cousin of a few years younger, I worked with her at Bee Bee shoe when I was in High School and later I worked for her in product development at Norcross Footwear. I will miss her. We had talked about my visiting her this fall. I would welcome family members calling or emailing me to get more information. I am in San Antonio, TX.

To Norma's family & friends,

I worked with Norma at Prevue Products and will carry fond memories of her with me. She always had a smile on her face and was never to busy to answer a question for anyone. I always loved her flair for dress and admired how she carried herself and worked with others. My thoughts and prayers go to all that knew her. Keep her memories close and she will be with you always. Go in peace, Norma.
