WOLFEBORO -- Richard D. Evjy, 65, died Sept. 27, 2009, with his family at his side.
He was born Nov. 12, 1943, in Minneapolis, Minn., to Malvin B. and Helene Grazer Evjy. He spent his younger years in Lynnfield, Mass., with his late stepmother, Betty Evjy, and late stepbrother, Brian Currie, finishing high school in 1961. He graduated from Nasson College in 1965 and then attended the graduate program in business administration at the University of Denver from 1966 to 1967.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, achieving the rank of 1st lieutenant. He worked from 1970 to 1995 with Colony Corporation, a home decor manufacturer based in Woburn, Mass, a career culminating in the role of CEO. Since then he had been a professional consultant.
He loved cruising Lake Winnipesaukee in his 1954 Chris Craft Racing Runabout.
He was a member of Simon W. Robinson Lodge in Lexington, Mass., and the Morning Star Lodge No. 17 in Wolfeboro. He was a true mentor and friend. His loved ones will be forever grateful for his generosity and kind wisdom.
He was predeceased by a son, David J. Evjy.
Family members include his wife of 37 years, M. Judith Evjy of Wolfeboro; two sons, Christopher J. Evjy of Denver, Colo., and Matthew D. Evjy of Arlington, Mass.; a daughter, Keri H. Evjy of Asheville, N.C.; a brother, Jack T. Evjy of Bedford; an aunt; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
SERVICES: Calling hours will be Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lord Funeral Home, 23 Club Lane, Wolfeboro. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10:00AM at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, Rte. 28, Alton. Burial will follow be in Lakeview Cemetery, Wolfeboro.
