Sylvio Fauteux Obituary

Sylvio Marcel Fauteux, 86, of Aylett, went home to be with the Lord on July 5, 2024. Born in Canada, he was a son of the late Edmour and Alice Fauteux. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Robert M. Fauteux; and a sister, Laurette Caldwell. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jeannedarc Fauteux; a son, Leo N. Fauteux; Robert's wife, Cammy Fauteux; five grandchildren, Kevin, Troy, Brad, Ashley and Alex Fauteux; four brothers, Aldei (Irene), Jerome, Jean (Pauline) and Rosaire (Diane) Fauteux; two sisters, Gisele Maurais and Suzanne Prince; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Sylvio immigrated to the US from Canada at age 19. He worked in a textile mill in Manchester, NH for seven years. He then worked in the logging industry for many years, until moving to Virginia in 1989. At that time, Sylvio and his two sons built a business, Mid Atlantic Tree Harvestors. In 1991, they also started Fauteux Trucking, Inc. Sylvio was an avid enthusiast of all things Dodge and motocross racing. He prided himself in his strong work ethics and his ability to fix anything. He was always ready with a smile or a joke.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 11, at B. W. White Funeral Home, Aylett. A funeral mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday, July 12, at the Catholic Church of the Redeemer, Mechanicsville. Interment will follow in Hanover Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Catholic Church of the Redeemer or the American Parkinson Disease Association.
