Terry Markley Obituary

Loudon - Terry L. Markley, 74, passed away June 13, 2014, at home, surrounded by his loving family.

He leaves his wife of nearly 54 years, Judy Markley, as well as his adoring daughters.

Terry was born on March 7, 1940, in San Diego, the son of the late Charles and Ethel (Evans) Markley. Terry lived in Chicago for many years before moving his young family to New Hampshire in 1968.

He was a veteran and served proudly in the U.S. Navy. Terry was employed more than 40 years in the printing trade with Rumford Press and Eastern Rainbow. In semi-retirement, he worked for Velcro in Manchester.

His many interests included traveling, fishing, hunting, bird watching, model shipbuilding, gardening, Civil War history, John Denver concerts and the Celtic Women. He was also a bagpipe groupie and an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan. His greatest passion was hiking, and he introduced the pastime to his children and grandchildren. He was a proud member of the Appalachian Mountain Club's 4000 Footer Club.

Besides the love of his life Judy Markley, he leaves two daughters, Melinda (Kim) Bean of Loudon and Lisa Markley of Brewster, Mass. He also leaves his grandchildren, Michael (Nichola Meserve) Bean of Reading, Mass., Stephen (Suzanne) Bean, Susan (Ben) Gelinas and Jennifer (Jayson) Leonard, all of Loudon.

Terry was the proud great- grandfather to Christopher, Haleigh and Nicholas Gelinas, Charlie and Stephen Bean and Audrey Leonard, as well as a great-granchild expected in September.

He is also survived by sister Barbara Pettikas; brother-in-law James Walsh; numerous nieces and nephews, including Leon and George Emrich of Manchester; and lifelong family friends Heidi Kimball Hard and Lawrence Kimball. He was predeceased by his brother, Richard Markley; sister Judy Emrich Sheffield; and in-laws Thomas and Claudia Walsh.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the hospice caregivers, including Eve Block, Erin Finn, Debbie Geoffrey, Scott Harris and Chaplin Duane Bailey; as well as Dr. Charles Carrier and Dr. Camile Fadul.

.

SERVICES: A calling hour will be held Wednesday, June 18, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Bennett Funeral Home, 209 N. Main St., Concord. A service will follow in the chapel. The Rev.
