MANCHESTER -- William J. Foley, 73, died Oct. 17, 2008, at Catholic Medical Center.
He was born in Pawtucket, R.I., to William F. and Harriet (Pride) Foley.
He grew up in Pawtucket and attended St. Raphael's Academy. He attended Brown University and the University of Rhode Island. He was a U.S. Navy veteran during the Korean War.
He was a former linotype machinist for the Pawtucket Times and later built a career as a sales representative of newspaper hardware and software.
He settled in New Hampshire in the early 1970s. He worked for Composition Systems Inc., selling computer systems to large newspapers. In the 1990s he and partner Jamie Torregiani founded Foley, Torregiani & Associates Inc., which sold hardware and software to large newspapers throughout the world. He retired in 1998.
He was active in Londonderry town affairs for more than 20 years. He was named Londonderry Citizen of the Year in 1985.
Family members include his wife Judith M. (McDonald) Foley of Manchester; five children, Tony Foley of Manchester, Erin Foley Mocharnuk of Springfield, Ill., Kurt Foley of Warwick, R.I.; Michael Foley of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Kathleen Holmes of Derry; seven grandchildren; and a brother, Stephen Foley of Norwood, Mass.
SERVICES: A celebration of his life will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Lions Hall, 256 Mammoth Road, Londonderry.
Memorial donations may be made to the charity to be announced at the celebration.
