COLUMBUS – Joe P. Siferd, age 84, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2025 in Columbus, Ohio. He was born on Aug. 18, 1940 in Idaville, Indiana, the son of the late Lewis and Wilma (Melvin) Siferd.
Following high school, Joe began his career as an apprentice at Grimes before moving on to Navistar, where he dedicated many years of service and ultimately retired as a skilled trades foreman. In his personal life, Joe found immense joy in the simple pleasures of fishing, hunting, camping, and mushroom hunting with his four sons. These weekend adventures were cherished moments that fostered deep bonds within the family and created countless memories that will be treasured for generations. He had a profound love for the outdoors and enjoyed spending time on the farm he and his beloved wife purchased later in life.
Joe is survived by his sons, Terry Siferd and Rodney Siferd and daughters-in-law, Debbie Siferd, Melissa Siferd, and Suzy Dawson. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Derek (Melissa) Siferd, Kasey Siferd, Kelsey "Sunny" Siferd (Mike Costill), and Megan (Aaron) Cooper, as well as his great-grandchildren, Owen Costill, Spencer Costill, and Gwen Costill. Joe was fortunate to have close friends in Dorothy and Harvey Yoder and Diane Fairchild, who shared many of his adventures.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Barbara Ann Siferd, and his sons, Christopher Siferd and Jeffery Siferd, whose absence is deeply felt by all who knew them.
