It's always hard to say "good-bye" to someone who has made a difference in your life, has made you a better person just for spending time with them, and who taught you to "eat anything that won't eat you first". :) I will miss your sarcastic humor, our ice cream runs, and our love of chocolate but I know in my heart, it is not the loss of you I will never get over, but the LIFE of you and that is a wonderful thing.! With sympathy and love, Cheryl

Randy, Greg, and Lori - I wrote a tedious, tear-jerking remembrance here to Doris and The Coach which my laptop promptly ate. I'm glad it did. Most of what I wrote was an apology to them for my failures properly to recognize them for all that they did for me. And that was stupid of me. No small part of your parents' greatness was that they didn't need to receive any public showing of appreciation for the many good deeds they did. That doesn't relieve me of the penance I owe for shortchanging two of the finest parents I knew when growing up (and beyond), but that's on me and I shouldn't bore people with tedious stories and excuses about how I failed to demonstrate what Doris and The Coach were so much due. Rather, what happened is that after my laptop ate this opus dolorum I had created, I swore up a blistering storm of profanities and obscenities calling into doubt the legitimacy of the parentage of Michael Dell and Bill Gates. However, somehow in the early course of my tirade I seemed to have hit the function button that causes my laptop to transcribe what I'm dictating. I must say my laptop really doesn't do a very good job of oral recognition, but I'll also say that it does a good enough job that I think the overseers of the Jacobson-Pizer Condolences Page would clearly enough have recognized enough of my vocabulary that they would not have been amused by its inclusion in what elsewise tends to be sedate fare. And then I thought how, if there had been some way that Doris could have seen me scramble to make sure that none of my profanities and obscenities made their way to the Condolences Page, how amused she would have been. Above all, Doris loved a good laugh[ and this one would have shaken her tucos off. And I loved you Doris. And I'm sure the three of you did very much, too, and my heart goes out to you for your loss. Greg and Family: Very sorry to hear of Doris's passing. I often have thought of her over the years and always appreciated how she treated me like one of the family when we were kids. I am in Calif so won't get back for the ceremony. Sincere condolences.
