James Finkle Obituary

James H.
Finkle, Sr.
NEW HARTFORD AND OLD FORGE
James H. Finkle, Sr., 80, of New Hartford and Old Forge, died on Tuesday, November 11, 2014, at the Siegenthalar Center. He was born on September 24, 1934, in Utica, a son of the late Harvey and Mildred Wheeler Finkle. He graduated from New Hartford High School and attended Oswego College. Jim married Dona Haggas on March 17, 1956. He worked in the construction trade and later owned and operated Oneida Electrical Contractors. Jim was a member of the Niccolls Memorial Presbyterian Church in Old Forge and was also a member of the Carducci Masonic Lodge F&AM. He served on the Boards for NECA and JATC. Jim was always a hard worker and a keen businessman. Once he retired, he could be found with his family or working on a project. Always putting his family first, one of Jim's greatest pleasures in life was spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jim was an avid golfer who enjoyed scoring 3 holes in one. In his free time, he loved snowmobiling, boating, watching NASCAR and driving his Corvette. He was also loved and respected by his many friends and business associates. He is survived by his wife, Dona Finkle; children, Gail Doyle and her husband, Gregg, of Clinton, Debbie Bathke and her husband, Don, of New Hartford, Jim Finkle, Jr., and his wife, Theresa, of Poland, Lynne Myers, of Clinton, and Sharon Kleps and her husband, David, of Old Forge; grandchildren, Jill and Cody Doyle, Sarah Dobson and her husband, Justin, Jennifer King and her husband, Mike, Meghan Bathke, Jessica Myers, Stephanie Burke and her husband, Dan, Mallory Kleps and Griffin Kleps; and five great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother, Roger Finkle, and sister, Carol Lamphere. The family would like to offer a special thank you to Dr. Tisch, who was not only a great physician but also a dear friend to Jim, for all the special care and comfort given to him. They would also like to thank Dr. Ferreiro for his compassion and care. The funeral will be on Friday at 7:00 at the Dimbleby, Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral Home, 13 Oxford Rd., New Hartford. Interment will be in Crown Hill Memorial Park at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will be on Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 prior to the funeral at the funeral home. Dona and family. I am so sorry to hear of Jim's passing. I was thinking about him just a few days ago; and remembering his kindness; his energy; and his outlook on life despite his illness. He was one of my favorites!! Vicki Case-Whitford
