Robert Doolen Obituary
BOONVILLE - Robert R. Doolen, Jr., 86, of Route 12, passed away at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center on September 8, 2016.
He was born in Utica, NY, on January 2, 1930, a son of Robert Doolen, Sr. and Lena Stanbrook Doolen. He grew up in Utica and worked construction for many years. He served in the US Army in Korea from 1948-1954 and attained the rank of Sergeant First Class. Bob was in love with his wife for a year before he even met her and then on July 28, 1962, he married Margaret Szakacs at the South Trenton Union Church. For many years, Bob drove school buses for Remsen and Adirondack Central Schools. For a time, Bob enjoyed rodeo riding.
Surviving are his wife, Margaret; one brother, Donald Doolen, New York Mills; one sister, Myrtleann Seifried, Poland; several nieces, nephews and close friends. He was predeceased by infant brothers, Timothy James and George Patrick Doolen; brothers, Charles and William Doolen; and three sisters, Mabel Popejoy, Patricia Doolen and Emily Doolen Thomas.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 10, 2016, at 11 a.m., at Mills Funeral Home, 301 Post Street, Boonville, NY. Calling hours will be Saturday, from 10-11 a.m., prior the service. Burial will be in Turin Cemetery.
Contributions may be made to Boonville Ambulance or to Steven Swans Humane Society.

Margaret,
I was sorry to learn of Bob's passing. He was a friend/neighbor to my deceased parents, Joe and Helen. I was just a small kid when I knew you both. I was impressed by Bob being a rodeo cowboy and that he was friends with Carl Perkins.
