Ruby Crane Obituary

Ruby L. Crane/Croy, 94, of Shenandoah, was born Sept. 7, 1915 in Hopkins, Mo., the daughter of Sidney and Edith (Bryant) Warren.
Ruby passed away, into the arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on Friday, Aug. 20, 2010, at Clarkson Hospital, Omaha, due to surgery complications.
She attended and graduated school from Strahan, Iowa.
Ruby married Martin C. Croy of Essex; where they resided on a farm and to them were born four children: Gloria, Roger, David, and Michael.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Martin Croy and Floyd Crane, and grandson John James.
Ruby was a very religious person and found comfort in the Lord and God Almighty and practiced what she preached. She was very particular with how her house looked and was always cleaning and trying to keep it neat as a pin,
Ruby leaves behind, lots of friends and relatives who were so dear to her. Her love for all was ever present and she sometimes glowed when she spoke to you and looked upon you with those beautiful blue eyes.
She worked for Snow White laundry, Kitchen Klatter, Rexall Drug Store, and Earl May Seed Co.
Gloria Croy was firstborn to Martin and Ruby and was dealt a harsh blow in early childhood by being struck down by Polio.
Mother and daughter developed a very close and tight-knit bond between them in those very hard years while she was ill, that was never to be broken.
Gloria, like her mother, has always had a ready smile for anyone she ever came into contact with.
After Gloria's graduation from High School, Ruby took her to the then "Hand Community Hospital" for a job interview. Gloria got the job and Ruby was offered a position as a Nurses Aide, and thus her career in nursing began.
After working as a Nurses Aide, she decided to return to school. She traveled back and forth between Shenandoah and Clarinda, where she graduated as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She worked for Shenandoah Hospitals for 35 years and then retired.
During this time, she and husband Martin were divorced and she later married Floyd Crane.
One of her special friends for the past couple of years was – Newell DeSart. Her next-door neighbor, Dorothy Smith, was a very "special friend," and Delma Russell had been a friend for over 50 years.
She was active in Eastern Star and had advanced to Worthy Matron.
Her life was about helping people and being with friends but family was first and foremost. She always lit up and glowed like a candle when telling others of her family.
Ruby is survived by her children, Gloria Croy of San Jose, Calif.; Roger Croy, and wife Janet, of Raytown, Mo.; David Croy, and wife Barbara, of Urbandale; and Michael, and wife Maryln, of Camdenton, Mo.; granddaughter, Charmayne; grandsons, James, Kenneth, Jeffrey, Christopher, Dale, and John Croy; great-grandchildren; Morgan, Jessica, Stefani, Jordan, Brody, Parker, Camryn, Lucius, and Alexis.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 28, 2010 at the United Methodist Church in Shenandoah with Alan Moore officiating.
There was a private family burial at Rose Hill Cemetery in Shenandoah.
Visitation with the family present was held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 27 at the Kirsch Funeral Chapel in Shenandoah.
Memorials are suggested to the Shenandoah United Methodist Church or the Shenandoah Medical Center.
