Ben was an awesome teacher, friend and mentor. He was instrumental in my career path and desire to keep bees. He was a great friend and made awesome muscadine grape wine!! The good ones seem to always slip away early!
Ben and family will always be in my prayers!!
Love you guys

To the entire Cowan family, my most sincere condolences to you all. Tammy, you are in my thoughts and prayers. I am surely going to miss running into Mr. Cowan at Stripes or at the post office and having our little chats about whatever he was up to. He was a wonderful person. He will be greatly missed.

My condolences to the Cowan family for this immense loss. We were blessed to have Mr.Cowan as a teacher for our son Jacob. He always challenged his students with work as well as projects. I will never forget the catapult project!! As soon as I saw this announcement. I sent it to my son his response was, "Mr. Cowan was a great teacher & a kind man"

I knew Ben since grade school, and we had some really great shared, experiences together growing up. He always was a guy that was true to himself and never let other people affect his principals, or actions. He taught me many things, from stick welding to beekeeping and I will miss him greatly. With luck, I will see him again someday.

Charlene and I are sorry to hear of Ben´s passing. I enjoyed working with Ben those years when y´all were in Somerville. I will always remember the times we went fishing on the lake and he caught most of the fish. I still use his chili recipe that we used for the FFA chili supper.
Prayers and condolences for you and your family.
