I´m a 1988 graduate of Mercedes. He was one of our counselors. I don´t recollect if he passed away until I saw his name in the Mercedes enterprise. I´m pretty sure he´s smiling in heaven.

Still thinking of you from time to time and always remembering the extremely kind words you always shared with me. You encouraged me to become what I am today when everyone else had already turned their backs on me but I will never forget that one comment you made telling me you could see a light inside of me that was going to shine so bright in the future because now that light does. Thank you for everything you did and everything you said to me. You truly had a gift to inspire people and that is a quality that most of the world lacks today but you never stopped showing that you were a man of GOD and respected everyone, thanks again.

I was saddened to hear of Eddie´s passing. We worked side by side for several years in the Progreso School district and was impressed with his good works and focus on parents and kids. He had such a good heart and always was committed in doing what was right. He took pride in having served his country and would share his stories.
My thoughts and prayers are with family during this difficult time, but be aware that Eddie
leaves a legacy that will always

Mr. Howell is an example of what Mercedes is all about. He was a kind and a gentle person - not an over the top individual but a model citizen that made the most of what was available to him. From humble beginnings he made a career for himself, raised a family, authored books and still made time to give back to his community. He will be missed in person but his legacy will continue through his children. Descanse en paz.
