Omar Cortez Obituary
Omar graduated from Harlingen High School and attended Pan American University. He joined the US Army All American Paratroopers 82nd Airborne Division. He retired from the Federal Government U.S. Customs in 1991.
He is loved and will be greatly missed by his family.
Omar is survived by his loving and devoted wife Estefana L. Cortez; son Eloy (Rosa) Cortez, Sr.; and a daughter Edna Cortez; grandchildren Eloy Cortez, Jr., Naomee Cortez, Elexis Chapa, Elyse Chapa and Elysa Chapa; his siblings Obed (Petra) Cortez, Alejandro (Flora) Yanez, Olga (Manuel) Trevino and Oren (Minerva) Cortez; a host of relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held at Rudy Garza Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 from 1:00 pm-9:00 pm with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church with burial to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park. Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Craig Alaniz, Ray Longoria, Leo Trevino, Mario Trevino, Alez Yanez, Jr. and Ricardo Yanez, III.
John 11: 25-26 I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die.

I never met Mr. CORTEZ but i met his wife. She was and is my guardian angel. She saved me when i was at my lowest. She was dedicated to her job, and to her family,most of all to her husband. She loves him very much. My condolences to Fannie and all her family. God Bless all of you. That he give you the strength,courage, faith and love to continue on. Fannie when you look up at the sky, you see the brightest star, that is Omar watching over you, as your guardian angel. Fannie you have been a wonderful friend. When we spoked yesterday I was so saddened with the news. But know that omar may not be with you in person, but he is there by your side watching over you.
