Steve and I were fraternity brothers at Northern Illinois University. He was a refreshing dose of maturity and reason in a cauldron of juvenile testosterone and impulsivity. I was also lucky enough to spend some time with him years later when he, as the Executive Director of Delta Upsilon, worked with me and a number of other DU alums to establish a chapter at the University of Central Florida. Steve's first thoughts were always of others, both as individuals and as members of the organizations he represented. I will miss him and consider myself as being very fortunate to have had him as a part of my life,.

Steve was a true leader, mentor and friend. My brother and I had the privilege of working for him at Floodwood Mountain Scout Reservation and he influenced our growth and development in countless ways. He will always be in my heart and I will miss him dearly.

Steve Gerber was a fraternity brother and as fine a man as I have ever known.
He grew up in Evanston Illinois and graduated from Northern Illinois University where we met.
Steve dedicated his life to working with young men with a long career with the Boy Scouts, Delta Upsilon Fraternity and the Marine Military Academy.
He will be missed.
