Carol Littlejohn Obituary

Carol Ann Littlejohn

Camarillo, CA

Carol Littlejohn, 79, died on November 3, 2018 at Santa Paula Hospital. She was born in Oxnard on December 13, 1938 to Gilbert and Margaret Sawtelle.

George and Carol were married at St. Mary Magdalen Chapel on September 22, 1956 and were privileged to be able to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary in that same chapel in 2006. Carol was very active in her church and choir at St. Mary Magdalen, as well as with Catholic Daughters. Her zest for life was overshadowed only by her love for her family... and bingo! There were often trips to Laughlin, NV to play bingo, New Orleans, LA to visit family, and even a trip to Rome with her choir to sing at The Vatican while also having the honor of meeting Pope John Paul II.

She also loved to sit at home with a good 1,000+ piece puzzle or with knitting needles in her hand. Her house was always filled with family and the joyful sounds of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Never a birthday missed or an anniversary forgotten, Carol will be remembered for her kind-hearted nature and the love she carried for her family.

Carol is survived by her husband of 62 years, George O. Littlejohn; children George Jr. (Rita) Littlejohn, Sarah Littlejohn, Catherine Littlejohn, and Michael (Vicki) Littlejohn; grandchildren Jennifer (Ian) Caldwell, Ashley (Ben) Hernandez, Andrew Littlejohn, Ethan Littlejohn, Steven Koranek, Samantha Sustaita, and Sabrina (Rex) Stowbridge; and 11 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, November 9 at Griffin Family Funeral Chapels, 1075 E. Daily Dr., Camarillo. Vigil will begin at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 10 at St. Mary Magdalen Church, corner of Las Posas and Crestview, Camarillo. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery, 1380 Fitzgerald Rd., Simi Valley.

Arrangements are under the direction of Griffin Family Funeral Chapels (805)482-1166.

Our kids were in Boy Scouts together. George (Mary Ann's husband) and Ed Armstrong were the scout masters.
They were one of the few hiking-outdoor troops that existed. They provided wonderful experiences for the boys and my son passed on his love of the outdoors in turn to his kids. Carol was a great Scout mom who made us all feel welcome. Thanks to the Littlejohns and sincere condolences to George, George Jr and Mike on the loss of their beloved wife and mother. Some folks you don't forget, and Carol (God rest her soul) was one of them.
