Cordra Harvey, daughter of Willis and Susie Harvey, was born on August 9, 1945, in Shreveport, La., and departed this life on August 31, 2007, at Pleasant Valley Hospital in Camarillo.

She came to Oxnard with her mother while she was an infant and lived in Ventura County for the rest of her life.

She accepted the Lord as her personal Savior at a young age and united with the Saint Paul Baptist Church of Oxnard, under the leadership of the late Rev. Jessie Walker. She was a member of the Youth Choir and Young Adult Choir.

She was employed by the United States Naval Base at Port Hueneme as an administrative assistant. She retired from the Naval Base after many years of faithful service.

Cordra never was blessed with any children of her own but had many loving nieces and nephews that she spoiled.

Cordra was preceded in death by her mother, Susie Shandy; and sister, Della Kendrick.

She leaves to cherish her life and memories, her sister, Evelyn Oglesby; brothers, Willis Harvey (Reecie) of Oxnard, Leonard Robinson (Rita) of Moorpark, John Barber, and James Barber (Jill) of Oxnard; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

One of my favorite gals growing up in Oxnard. She was the "Little Sister" to Willis "Junior" Harvey, who performed with me in the old band called, "The Mixtures" that featured Junior and Phil Tucker, (as Phil & Harv) that had a big hit on their hands in 1961 called, "Darling". Del Franklin, Autrey Joe Johnson, me, Jess Porras, Steve Mendoza, Zag Soto and Eddie De Robles were in that band and Cordra always supported our music the same as Evelyn and Della Mae, her sisters did. Haven't seen you in a while girl but you were always one of my favorite supporters! God Bless you, Evelyn, Junior and your entire family! Love ya girl!
