Dylan Pendleton Obituary

Dylan Scott Pendleton passed away on Saturday, Aug. 30, 2008. He was born Nov. 5, 1991, in Honolulu, Hawaii, where his father was militarily stationed. He lived there until the family moved to California in 1994, and then to Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City, Okla., in 1997.

He attended Briarwood Elementary School, where he won an academic achievement award two years in a row. He also attended Tae Kwon School for five years and attained a brown belt. He took second place in the state for Tae Kwon Do Forms. His family was transferred back to Point Mugu in 2002, and they settled in Camarillo.

He then went to Las Colinas Middle School. In the eighth grade, he was a receiver and defensive back on the PYFL Camarillo Silver Roadrunner team. His team went undefeated to the PYFL Super Bowl. Attending Camarillo High School, he played freshman and JV football. He then attended Vista Real Charter School in Oxnard, where he maintained a 3.47 GPA.

Dylan loved music and social events. He was known for his bright smile, easygoing warm heart, great sense of humor, and loyal friendship.

He is survived by his father, Matt; mother, Jody; brother, Nicholas; and many relatives and friends. He was dearly loved and will be dearly missed.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 6, 2008, in the Chapel of the Hills, Conejo Mountain Funeral Home, with the burial to follow at Conejo Mountain Memorial Park, 2052 Howard Road, Camarillo, CA 93012. 805-482-1959.

Dear Pendleton Family,

Our hearts and prayers are with you. I did not know Dylan very well, but he was always a nice young man when he was at our house. Our sons, James and Cody, always enjoyed "hanging out" with DP. It is obvious that he touched many lives in his short time on earth. God bless and keep you.

Dear Pendleton Family,
I met DP his freshman year in my Science CP class. He was a respectful, smart, and kind boy. There are usually 5 or so students each year that I feel more connected to than others - DP was one of those kids. Please accept my deepest sympathies for your loss.

Dylan Pendleton was a great guy. He got everyone to laugh in class. I met him my freshmen year in English class, and he was a nice person. This still hasn't hit me that he is gone. I wish he was still here. So he can be cracking jokes to his friends, and making them laugh. Instead of all of us feeling this way. A person like Dp shouldn't have been taken away from all his friends and family. He is going to be missed so much. He had a big heart with an amazing personality. This shouldn't have happened to him.

We love you and miss you Dp.

When you give birth to a precious baby boy you never in your worst nightmare imagine he would only be with you 16 years. My son knew DP well and will miss him very much. This is very hard for young adults to understand and I hope they all learn from his untimely passing. I pray that your hearts are filled with the peace of the memories and love you will always have for him.
My heart breaks for you.

Dylan is one of the nicest boys you will ever meet. His wide smile and politeness made him forever welcome by all his friends' parents. Here's a pic of Dylan a week before the accident at our house with friends. Look at that happy guy! This is the saddest time for all of us who knew him. DP, you will be missed by our family alot! Matt, Jody and Nic,

We sit here six days later still not understanding why Dylan is no longer with us. Our hearts are heavy! Our conversations with you the last few days have been truly remarkable, your strength is amazing. I have told you many times how wonderful both of your boys are and how both of my boys look up to yours, especially Michael who looked up to Dylan in so many ways, Dylan was his mentor and I am grateful for that, I couldn't have asked for a better person. Saturday will be a celebration of a very special young man and we as a family will give thanks for the time and memories we had with Dylan, especailly the inner tube rides in the bay earlier this year!

It's wonderful to read all he'd already accomplished in life. What a guy! The best part is him having so much love for life and others, and being someone loved so much in return. That says more than words can describe. I know he was a light in your lives more than anyone elses and we're hurting for your loss.

Matt and Jody,

From the stuff we’ve been reading here it sure sounds like Dylan had grown into a fine young man and will be missed by many. But how could he not, with the loving parents you two are. We are so sorry for your loss. We love you both and miss the times we shared together that now seems so long ago. Give Nick a hug for us too. If you want to get away our home is always open.

Dear Jodi and Family,

Our hearts and prayers are with you right now, and every minute that passes as you go through this difficult and painful time. Dylans smile remains in our minds and lives on in our hearts. Kaitlin was lucky to see Dylan at Subway the night this happened and saw he was laughing and smiling and having a great time. Paul enjoys fun memories of Dylan being over to your home and playing as the boys were all growing older. Lauren still remembers you as her favorite teaacher and I remember you as a great mom to both of your boys. You will remain iin our thoughts and prayers always. Our family is committed to prayers and anything we can do to help you during this time now, and as time goes on. You are not alone right now, you have a community behind you. Dylan was a very cherished boy, and we will keep his memories alive.

With our love,

September 4, 2008

Dear Pendleton Family,

I did not know your son personally, but my daughter did. She is beyond sad that she'll never get to see "DP" again. Seeing her in so much pain makes me want to somehow make it go away, but unfortunately I can't. In the past few days she has told my husband and myself all of Dylans special qualities; He had a great sense of humor, he was kind, and he was a wonderful friend. When she speaks of him the dark cloud gets lifted, and she smiles again. Seeing her go through this makes me think of your pain and what you must be experiencing right now. Each time you come to mind I say a prayer that God will carry you through this most difficult time.
Sincerely, Tricia Zook & family

To Dylan's family and friends: I am so saddened to hear of Dylan's passing. I was looking forward to meeting him today as his new teacher at school.
