Eduardo Hernandez Obituary

Eduardo Hernandez, 51 years old, surrounded by some of his family, was called home to glory land on June 30, 2014.
Eduardo (a.k.a. Eddie; "Wayo" was born April 1, 1963 in Chicago Heights, Illinois, the 7th child of Rogelio and Ruth Hernandez. The family knew they had received a unique addition, he was truly a gift from God. Eduardo means "rich and guard" and without a doubt he was definitely rich in spirit and character.
Raised in a Christian home all his life, the son of a Pastor and with a home full of singing, Eddie soon began to display his inclination for music.
Though to some he had a disability, his family quickly recognized his ability to keep a good beat. His musical instruments he learned to play were the drums, tambourine, maracas and "palitos" (sticks). Eddie also had many favorite Christian songs, two favorites of all time "My God is Real" and "I can Dance, Dance, all night".
A Pastor's son all his life, Eddie faithfully attended church with his parents and family, his father then Pastor of the church. In September of 2006 Eddie met his new Pastor, Steve Perez, where he continued to enjoy going to church.
After the passing of his mother in 2006 Eddie became his father's constant companion. They were well know at various restaurants and shopping malls in the city of Ventura, Eddie, because of his charisma, was the only customer that could walk into kitchen and joke with the restaurant staff.
He attended Ventura schools and workshops, obtained his Special Education diploma in 1982 and participated in the Ventura 1982 and 1983 Special Olympics.
Eddie was loved well in the love of family and friends and in the love of a God. Eddie "Wayo" will be deeply missed by all!
He was preceded in death by his mother Ruth V. Hernandez and his sister Maggie Alaniz.
He is survived by his father Rogelio Hernandez, seven siblings: Sara Alaniz and husband Eliseo, Roy Hernandez Jr. and wife Evie, Gustavo Hernandez and wife Laura, Elizabeth Rodriguez and husband Danny, Elias Hernandez Sr. and wife Maria, Stella Hernandez, Ernie Hernandez and wife Leticia.
He is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces, grand nephews and nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins, church members and community friends.
"Home Going Services": Monday, July 14th 7 p.m. at Ventura Missionary Church, 500 High Point Dr. Ventura, and Funeral Service Tuesday, July 15th at 10 a.m. at Oxnard Revival Center, 2640 Alvarado St. Oxnard. Officiating Pastor Steve Perez - Fountain of Life Apostolic Church, Ventura. Interment to follow at Ivy Lawn Cemetery, Ventura, CA.

Beatitudes of the 'Exceptional Child'

Blessed are you who take time to listen to defective speech, for you help us to know that if we persevere, we can be understood.

Blessed are you who walk with us in public places and ignore the stares of strangers, for in your companionship we find havens of relaxation.

Blessed are you that never bids us "hurry up" and more blessed are you that do not snatch our task from our hands to do them for us, for often we need time rather than help.

Blessed are you who stand beside us as we enter new ventures, for our failures will be outweighed by times we surprise ourselves and you.

Blessed are you who ask for our help, for our greatest need is to be needed.

Blessed are you when by all these things you assure us that the thing that makes us individuals, is not our peculiar muscles, nor our wounded nerves system, but is the God-given self that no infirmity can confine.

Blessed are those who realize that I am human and don't expect me to be saintly just because I am disabled.

Blessed are those who pick things up with out being asked.

Blessed are those who understand that sometimes I am weak and not just lazy.

Blessed are those who forget my disability of the body and see the shape of my soul.

Blessed are those who see me as a whole person and not as a "half" and one of God's mistakes.

Blessed are those who love me just as I am without wondering what I might have been like.
