George Turner Obituary

George E. Turner II

George E. Turner II, passed away peacefully at his Ojai home on March 14, 2021, at the age of 92. George was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, (and great-grandfather. He was a lifelong resident of the Ventura, Foster Park, and Ojai areas. He was born April 28, 1928 in Ventura, CA to George and Olivia Turner (Mardueno). George married the love of his life, Mae Marie Ford on August 27, 1950 and together they had three beautiful children, George E. Turner, Ill, Lynn Wilson, and Todd Turner. George and Marie were married for 61 years until Marie's passing in 2011. George was a veteran of the Korean War and was stationed in Germany. During this time he worked on tanks for the U.S. Army. George was a gifted mechanic from a young age and started working on cars at the age of 12 in his uncles auto shop and could fix any engine placed in front of him. George retired from his career as a heavy equipment mechanic from Union Engineering in 1991. After that, he began another career at Quail Run Ranch and retired from there at the age of 88. George is survived by his sister Barbara Turner Randal, three children, eight grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. George was a dedicated husband and family man. Family and friendship were held most dear to George. His good nature, kindness, and contagious laughter brought joy to everyone who knew him. George was always willing to lend a helpful hand wherever it was needed. If George saw you driving, he was sure to honk his horn and give a big wave. George was an active man and even in retirement he kept a regular routine visiting his favorite local businesses, fixing engines, deep sea fishing, visiting with friends and family, and watching the surf. More than anything, George had a kind and generous heart. George loved to surprise friends and family with fresh strawberries, oranges, or avocados. George will be truly missed by all and will always be in our hearts. In lieu of flowers, go to breakfast with your family, tune up your car, check your tire pressure, and bring fresh farmstand fruit to a loved one, that's what he would have wanted you to do. The family would like to invite close friends and family to Ivy Lawn Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 5400 Valentine Rd., Ventura, CA 93003, on July 10 at 11:00 a.m. Please RSVP to Sarah 805-766-2073.
