2006
Joseph Leo Dormer, husband, brother, uncle and dear friend to everyone he met passed away suddenly on Aug. 2, 2006. He will be missed more than words can say.
Joe was 75 years old.
Joseph was born in Philadelphia, Pa., on Feb. 15, 1931. Joe always wanted to come to California to try his hand at acting which never materialized. He loved old movies and became friends with several actors.
Joe was always laughing and loved life, as he stated miracles that happened in his life. He lived a simple life, but was a very happy man because of his love for God and the church. He never missed a day of going to Mass and at 3 p.m. you could always find him in front of the Blessed Sacrament. He was especially close to St. Joseph, the Blessed Virgin Mary and Padre Pio. Whenever others needed a special prayer Joe was right there making sure God would hear him.
He had a wonderful sense of humor, wonderful wisdom and could recite scripture from his heart, and his heart was always trying to do the best he could for anyone.
After 72 years of single life, he met his lovely wife, Linda. They were married in 2004.
Joe is survived by his wife, Linda; sisters-in-law (Linda's family) Conchita Housum, Carmelita Sison and family, Emibo Hilario Jr., and family, Paul and Norma Caramat and family, Thelma Hilario, Zenaida Hilario, Eddie and Elizabeth Sison and Virgilio; brothers, Gene Dormer, Jim Dormer; sisters-in-law, Verna Dormer and Sandra Dormer; niece and her husband Debby and Pat Chapman and children Raymon, Ryan, Gracie, Reilly; niece and her husband, Michelle and Al Massen and children Trevor and Jordan; nephew and his wife Glenn and Wendy Dormer and children Kayla and Lauren; nephew and his wife Scott and Heidi Dormer; and niece Darelyn Becker.
We will miss him so very much, but we have no doubt that he is with the Lord.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 8 at St. Paschal Baylon Church, 155 E. Janss Road, Thousand Oaks, CA 91360. There will be a 9:30 a.m. viewing at the church. He will be buried at Santa Clara Cemetery immediately following Mass.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to St. Paschal Baylon Church, the church he loved so much, or to the Leukemia Fund.
