Long time former Camarillo resident Kenneth "Kenny" Pugh, born June 13, 1928, passed away peacefully in Redding, California on Monday, June 29, 2009 at the age of 81.
Kenny is survived by his seven children, Bonnie Emmons, Dawn Matlock, Binnie Pugh, Fawn Elhadidi, Kenneth Pugh Jr., Robert Pugh, and Carl Pugh. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, two brothers, one sister, and countless friends.
Always quick to lend a helping hand to anyone in need, standing up for what he believes in, and never taking any guff from anyone, are just a few of the qualities for which Kenny will be remembered.
Serving better than two decades in the U.S. Navy, providing for his large family, taking his grandchildren to the arcade, 17 years as "Mr. Kenny" at the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, a 35-year member of American Legion Post 741, or just drinking a beer with a stranger at the bar are all but milestones in the life of Kenny Pugh. He lived such a long and full life that anyone would be lucky to have lived like he had, and lucky to have known him. He will be missed. We have to hope that Kenny is in a better place now, with those loved ones who have departed before him, his beloved wife Beverly, family members, friends, and his faithful puppies Moxie, Lucky, and Wiz. Yes, Kenny is in a better place now, where when people ask him "How you doing?" he can sincerely reply, "anyone I can catch".
A time of visitation with the family present will be on Friday, July 10, 2009 from 4:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. at Conejo Mountain Funeral Home, Chapel of the Hills, Camarillo. Assisting the family with funeral arrangements is Conejo Mountain Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 2052 Howard Road, Camarillo. (805) 482-1959
