Colorado Springs, CO

Marilyn Buchin McCarty King, 82, died Friday, July 24, 2015 at Brookdale Bear Creek Senior Living in the care of Pikes Peak Hospice of Colorado Springs, CO.

She was born in Cleveland Ohio on August 3, 1932, the daughter of Henry L. and Marie S. Buchin. She met and married Samuel Ellsworth McCarty on April 12, 1952 in Great Lakes, IL and graduated from Ohio State University in 1957 with a B.S. degree in Home Economics.

For the past 12 years, Marilyn resided in Colorado Springs, CO having moved from Camarillo, CA. Prior to that, Marilyn had lived at locations in Palm Desert, CA, Ventura, CA, and Palos Verdes, CA, donating many hours as a volunteer at various hospitals and performing art centers. She loved the outdoors, especially the mountains and ocean, as well as gardening, ice skating, painting with watercolors, photography, and playing the piano. Marilyn liked to attend services when she could at Broadmoor Community Church in Colorado Springs, CO.

Marilyn is survived by her sons Scott McCarty and Jeff McCarty of Camarillo, CA; daughters-in-law, Dawn McCarty and Michelle McCarty; grandchildren Garrett McCarty and Shay McCarty; sister Elaine Blaser and brother-in-law, Earl Lee Blaser, Jr., of Lynchburg, VA; niece Laura Blaser and Krista Skuce of Colorado Springs, CO; and nephew Scott Blaser, of Charlotte, NC. She was preceded in death by her husband Samuel Ellsworth McCarty, and her daughter Lisa Louise McCarty.

In memory of Marilyn, and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children of Los Angeles, CA (http://www.shrinershospitalsforchildren.org)
