GOODWIN, Michael Richard passed away on April 16, 2015 after a long illness of mesothelioma.
He is survived by his loyal companion who loved him unconditionally, Jack Goodwin, wife Sandra Goodwin, step-children, Gregory Cain and Tiffany Goodwin, three granddaughters, Caitlin, Abbie and Kacie Sargent, brothers Regan Goodwin and Kevin Goodwin, sister Rory Lachica, nieces and nephews Michael Barker, Celestina Festa, Dax Lachica, Sadie Goodwin and Maggie Goodwin, goddaughters Kimmy and Sydney Michel, step-mother Janet Goodwin, step brother Craig Hoffman and step sister Candace Hoffman.
Michael was born in Bakersfield, CA and will be returned to his birthplace at the Bakersfield National Veteran's Cemetery with services pending. His career began serving his country in the Navy during the Vietnam War era. He returned home and pursued a career as a barber that extended over a 20-year period in the Santa Clarita Valley. He then became a cement mixer driver when we relocated to Ventura County.
His final job was a rock & sand truck driver. He had never been sick a day in his life until he contracted mesothelioma in around the month of February 2014. I want to thank Livingston Memorial Visiting Nurses Hospice Care for making his and my last few weeks comfortable. He went peacefully.

Tennis ball in hand with Jack staring in anticipation for the throw from Mike. That is how I will remember Mike, playful and never quitting even when the going got rough. He never quit living. Sandy, you were his earth angel. God just wanted him more. My condolences to Mike's entire family. He will be missed, but not forgotten.

Michael, you were a spit-fire and very much loved by so many. When life gave Michael lemons, he would play catch with Jack. Relentlessly! Please put a good work in for me with the big man upstairs. Tell him I mean well...just misunderstood. Michael gets what I am saying. Hugs from below, April-Monique-Michael-Hannah. xo
