Michael Mead Obituary

Michael Leo Mead

Moorpark, CA

On March 18, 2016, Michael Leo Mead, 40, was tragically taken from all of us.

Michael was born on March 16, 1976 in Patchogue, NY. He attended Moorpark High School and Moorpark Community College, and received his Bachelor's Degree from San Diego State University.

Michael had an all-embracing capacity for kindness and generosity. His compassion for the elderly and less fortunate was exemplified when his grandparents were ill, visiting all of them many times. He would sit with them and just talk, helping them to get through what would have been many painful and lonely days. Michael spent nights at homeless shelters ensuring that everyone had a warm blanket and a safe place to sleep. After spending all night he would make and serve them breakfast. In the past several years, Michael found a spiritual side to his life, regularly attending Mass and joining the Knights of Columbus, whose main commitment is helping those in need. Mike loved children and he loved his nieces and nephews; they said he was the best babysitter ever! Mike filled up the room when he entered it and he made us laugh; our hearts are broken. We will miss him terribly.

Mike was preceded in death by his grandparents Anne and Herb Bansbach, Ellie and John Mead, and Carolyn Casey. Michael is survived by his mother and stepfather Nancy and Tim Casey, his father John Mead, Jr., his brother Jake Mead and his wife Michelle, his niece and nephew Noelle and Tyler Mead, his stepbrother Tim Casey and his wife Shawna, his nephew and niece Dylan and Makena Casey, and his stepbrother Seth Casey. Mike was part of a large family and is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Mike was so funny and kind hearted. I remember him from San Diego State. We called each other M&M because my initials were M&M too. He left such an impression on me I googled my M&M friend to see where he might be today. I´m so sad to discover he´s no longer with us. I´m praying God continues to comfort you all.

Mead Family,
What a loss and my prayers our with you. Michael and I spent many times at meetings preparing for events at Knights of Columbus events. And enjoyed our meetings and conventions to which we planned this year 5 weeks ago. Mike was a Big "lil" Brother to me and always had that nice smile and caring about him. Buddy, I will miss you and your big bear hugs. I'm lost and glad to say we had the chance to laugh 5 weeks ago... RIP Brother

Mead Family,
My heart is shattered hearing the news of my Brother Knight Michael who was such a great Big Buddy to me and enjoyed our meetings, conventions and time we had at our gatherings doing the Lords work. Mike, seeing you just 5 weeks ago and getting your bear hug and laughter we shared will be missed. Big heart gone to soon, however your mission here was well done and now with our Heavenly Father. I Will miss you dearly.
