Sean Gillespie Obituary
Sean Paul Gillespie, 21, passed away on Sunday, February 8, 2015, at his home in Ventura, following a long battle with cancer. Sean was born November 14, 1993. He graduated from Ventura High School.
Sean is survived by his father and mother, Paul and Jenelle Gillespie; and his sister, Nicole Gillespie. He will be remembered for his bravery and his sacrifices to medical research that will help countless other children in the future. In the course of his life, Sean touched many people and will be dearly missed.
The family would like to thank the Teddy Bear Cancer Foundation, Make-a-Wish, Dream Foundation and CHLA for their support during this difficult time.
A memorial service to celebrate Sean's life will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2015, 2:00 pm, at Ted Mayr Funeral Home, 3150 Loma Vista Road, Ventura, with the Reverend Dan Hull officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family would encourage donations to one of the following:www.teddybearcancerfoundation.org; www.wish.org; www.chla.org; or www.dreamfoundation.org.

What a huge lass for your family and the world. I knew Sean at Ventura High where he had such a positive impact on those around him.. As the psychology teacher at VHS, what most delighted me was Sean's deep sense of self and exuberance for all that life had to offer, even as he was fighting Cancer. Sean, God Bless and rest in peace.

Sending this message with Love to the Gillespie family. I remember first meeting Sean when I was the principal of Sheridan Way....many years ago, and always with fond memories. I know that Sean fought this battle with courage surrounded by love from his family and friends. I am so lucky to have been Sean's Chemistry teacher at Ventura High School. He is an amazing light in the world. Sean's Science Fair Project on Alum Crystals is still one of the best visual representations of diligence and methodology even as he was battling his illness. He is my role model for never giving up and I tell his story each year when I set up his board. He was our hero and the kids all loved him very, very much. When he returned from San Francisco they presented him with a huge poster that hung from the ceiling. We are all so fortunate to have known Sean. Sending our love.

I am so sad to hear of Sean's passing. I will always remember his beautiful smile and how hard he worked in stagecraft and drama class with me. He was very well liked and it brings a smile to my face remembering the time he danced during an improv game - afterwards, the kids all lovingly called him "White Thunder." He was just an awesome human being, and I am very glad to have had him in my life his last year of high school.

Sean was a language student of mine for two years...and a student of physics in my husband's class, while at VHS. We know that he was more than that ...he became one of our most important teachers. Our deepest sympathy for your deep loss and our most profound respect for your son's light and shared spirit of courage.
