LAWRENCE BERNARD LARSEN
Lawrence Bernard Larsen passed away November 13, 2023 (2 days after his 89th Birthday), in Lehi Utah, surrounded by loved ones.
Larry was born November 11, 1934 in Fairview, Utah to Bernard (Buzz) Brigham Larsen and Mary Viola Brady Larsen. He was the 1st born of 9 children. He was raised in Roosevelt and Ballard, Utah. His roots were deep in the Roosevelt/Uintah Basin area. His Dad Buzz, was an ambitious entrepreneur type, and Larry learned at a young age how to work hard, solve problems, and dream of a better way. His growing up years would prove to help shape and mold his life.
Larry married Luane McDonald on March 30, 1954 in the Salt Lake Temple in Salt Lake City, Utah. On that special day, they made promises to each other to live in such a way that they could be Forever and Eternal Companions. Oh, how he loved her! He spent the rest of his mortal life trying hard to keep the promises he made that day! They now are reunited, and never to be separated again!
Larry joined the United States Army January 14, 1954, just a couple of months prior to getting married. Shortly after they were married, he was sent to Korea to serve for nearly 2 years. He received Honorable Release from Active Duty on November 22, 1955. He loved his Country and came to understand the value of freedom!
Upon his return to the United States, Larry and Luane moved to Logan, Utah, where Larry graduated from Utah State University in Accounting. While there, their family would begin to grow, as 2 of the eventual 11 Children were born. After graduation Larry landed a job in Kearns, Utah, where the 3rd child was born. Sometime in 1960 they moved to Vernal, Utah, where the rest of the children joined the family.
After working for a short while as an Accountant for Deb Cassida in the oil field, Larry decided to start his own Accounting Business, which came to be known as "Lawrence B. Larsen Company" for the next several decades. Through this company he was able to provide well for his family the rest of His life. Eventually he retired, and 2 of his Sons, David and Keith, took over the company.
Larry loved being a Son, Brother, Husband, Dad, Grandpa and Friend! He loved to provide and take care of his family. He taught his children and grandchildren how to work and succeed. He loved to travel and go places. He loved family vacations. He loved to shop and buy new cars, the latest gadgets, etc. Larry loved to help anyone, and although he and Luane already had a large family, they often provided others a place to stay or live if they were in
need. Larry unconditionally loved each member of his family and friends, and each one of them knew it!
Larry was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served diligently in many callings and assignments, including a home teacher, a Bishop twice, and High Council. Larry and Luane also loved serving as temple workers in the Vernal, Utah Temple, and later they served 2 Family History missions in Salt Lake City. Larry loved his Heavenly Father and His Son Jesus Christ. He lived his life trying to learn of them and follow them each day in everything he did. This made all the difference in his life's experiences and relationships!
