EARL KUHN Obituary

Earl J. Kuhn, 91, of Shabbona, Ill., died Monday, March 22, 2010, at Kishwaukee Community Hospital in DeKalb.
He was born May 3, 1918, on the family farm in Wheaton, the son of Charles and Anna (Ponson) Kuhn. Earl married Carolyn Zietsma Aug. 17, 1946, at St. Peter & Paul Church in Naperville.
Earl farmed the family farm in Wheaton, on the site which is now the College of DuPage. Earl moved his family to rural Shabbona in 1958 and raised crops, hogs and cattle on his farm. Earl and Carolyn moved off the farm to Indian Oaks subdivision in Shabbona in 1982. He enjoyed farm life and would still come out to the farm, on which his son Carl now lives and operates, as often as he could. Earl enjoyed watching the wildlife in the area near his home, playing pinochle and keeping up on current events and the news. He was an active member of St. James Catholic Church in Lee, and was a former member of the parish council and usher at St. James.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn, of Shabbona; three sons, Steven (Vickie) Kuhn of Bloomington, David (Jerri Cole) Kuhn of Lindenwood and Carl (Joyce) Kuhn of Shabbona; two daughters, Karen (Parviz) Kavoossi of Upland, Calif., and Donna (Ken) Larsen of Waterford, Wis.; a sister, Alice Steinway of Elgin; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and several brothers and sisters.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 27, at St. James Catholic Church in Lee, with Father Bonaventure Okoro officiating. Burial will be at St. James Calvary Cemetery, Lee. Friends may call from 9 a.m. Saturday until the time of services at the church.
A memorial is being established.
Arrangements were completed by Jacobson Funeral Home in Shabbona; 815-824-2618.
