Carol Lindsey Obituary

Carol Lindsey

Visalia - Carol Lindsey, 79, of Visalia passed away at 6:15pm on Sunday, July 15, at Kaweah Delta Hospital. She was born in Visalia on April 23, 1939 the daughter of the late Richard and Betty (Norris) Manning.

Carol was a proud member of the first graduating class of the new Redwood High School in 1957 and attended COS. She worked for her father at Tulare County News Agency for many years, but is best known as the owner of Midtown News magazine shop in downtown Visalia which she operated from the mid 70's until her retirement. She was an avid reader who loved to share her passion for books with others, always having a good recommendation at hand. She took great enjoyment in her regular aqua-aerobics classes at The Lifestyles Center Health Club where she met many dear friends. A member of the Visalia Mountain Ramblers for many years, she was a lifelong outdoors woman whose weekends were filled with countless adventures skiing, hiking, and biking. She also rafted the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon, the outdoor adventure she often recounted as her favorite.

She is survived by her three sons, Daniel O'Daniels (Denise) of Winona Lake, IN, Dennis O'Daniels (Terri) of Visalia, CA, David Lindsey of Mt. Shasta, CA; two sisters, Marilyn Batt (Doug) of Kneeland, CA and Cathy Carey (Peter) of Visalia,CA; six grandchildren, Michelle O'Daniels, Monica Stiles, Emily O'Daniels, Pricilla Jennings, Brian O'Daniels and Christie O'Daniels and 9 great grandchildren. She also has many nieces and nephews of whom she loved dearly.

Carol attended First Christian Church for many years. She died with the assurance of meeting her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Carol's last full day on earth was spent saying goodbye to the mountains she loved with her dearest friend Jan Varner. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Richard Manning Junior. She will be greatly missed for her kind, understanding, and generous spirit and her wonderful ability to listen.

Family and friends will gather at Restoration Church, 1144 N. Sumter Ct. in Visalia, CA on Saturday, August 4th at 1:30 pm with food fellowship following.

Carol was one of the dearest persons who blessed our lives. She was a wonderful friend to Bobby and I and will be remembered for all the exciting ski and backpack adventures we shared. Carol always had a kind word of encouragement for everyone. She shared her home so many times for Mountain Rambler meetings. What a great friend! Thoughts and prayers to her wonderful family and many friends who will miss her. Bobby will be so happy to see her smiling face when he greets her in Heaven. God Bess!
