Dusan Krstic Obituary

Dusan Krstic

Dusan Krstic was born in Perlez, Serbia on September 4, 1938, and passed away after a brief illness on February 13, 2021. He was 82 years old.

One of four siblings, Dusan was born in the former Yugoslavia to Stevan and Dragica Krstic. In 1960, Dusan immigrated to the United States with his wife, Vukosava (Vicky) Krstic, and their daughter, Marija (Mary), living in Palo Alto, CA for several years before moving to Visalia, CA in 1969, where he lived until his passing. In the years following 1960, Dusan helped his parents and siblings immigrate to the U.S. as well.

Dusan, rarely seen without his fisherman's cap and suit jacket, was a very hard worker and was employed up until his recent illness. Even when he was not at work, he was very busy gardening and maintaining his and his children's lawns. Many family members share fond memories of his apricot, cherry, and lemon trees, and his surprise appearances in their yards.

In 1984, Dusan experienced a traumatic automobile accident and was hospitalized for several weeks. With incredible perseverance, he recovered fully and went on to live what he would describe as a second life.

He was an engaging storyteller and a deep listener, often giving thoughtful advice to his loved ones. Giving was central to his character, and he gave everything he had to his children. As a young man, he enjoyed playing the accordion, taking part in soccer matches, going fishing, listening to Johnny Cash, and watching the Three Stooges. He was a great chess player and had a lifelong interest in space. Until very recently he also enjoyed watching treasure hunt shows, like Curse of Oak Island.

Dusan was preceded in death by his father, Stevan; mother, Dragica; and wife, Vicky.

He is survived by his daughters Marija (Mary) Krstic and Danica (Dana) Deminna; sons Mario Krstic and his wife Trish, and Daniel Krstic; grandsons Jacob Bradley Krstic and his wife Megan, Zachary Alexander Krstic, and Nicolas Ivan Krstic; granddaughters Brandy Deminna Ford and her husband Patrick, and Amanda McKenzie Krstic; great grandchildren Gwen Spencer and Willow Roselynn Krstic; sisters Verica (Vera) Oparnica and Danica (Dana) Ahrens and her husband Mike; brother Ziva Krstic and his wife Kathy; and countless nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life for Dusan will be held on April 24th at 11 am at Arbor #5 in Mooney Grove Park in Visalia.
