Maria De La Luz Charles

Maria De La Luz Charles left us peacefully at home in Dinuba to be with our good Lord on Sunday, May 15, 2011. Maria, along with her husband and children, migrated from Texas to California in 1963 as farm workers. She was a wonderful seamstress for many years and also worked as a fruit packer for many years. Maria's skills and talent were endless. She sewed, knitted, crocheted, cross stitched and was an avid reader. She had a huge library at home with many variations of books. She was very well read and could hold a conversation about anything that pertained to religion, politics, history and the list is endless. Maria was a very caring, thoughtful and generous person. She was a woman of great faith in God and touched the heart of everyone that knew her. Maria was preceded in death by her husband, Ramon, and her daughter, Olga. She especially touched the heart of her children and grandchildren. Maria will always be remembered as an exceptional mother, grandmother, and mother-in-law and will be very much missed. Maria is survived by four sons, Ramon and his wife Gloria of Texas, Dr. Rene Charles and his wife Lupe of Reedley, Rolando and his wife Julietta of Santa Cruz, Carlos Charles of Dinuba; one daughter, Alicia and her husband Gustavo Alvarez of Reedley; seven grandchildren, Raymond, Claudine, Ramon, Joaquin, Miguel, Avelina and Olga; four great grandchildren, Natalie, Vincent, Carlitos and Nevaeh; and one great-great grandson, James. A memorial Service will be held at Dopkins Funeral Chapel on Friday, May 27, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. Ama We love you and you will be deeply missed but always in our hearts. We lost an angel, but heaven gained a new one.
