Darry Alexander Obituary

Darry Vail Alexander

West Windsor, VT - West Windsor

Darry Vail Alexander, 68, passed away unexpectedly in his home on Sunday October 6, 2024. He was born to Wesley Deane Alexander and Joyce Elaine Alexander (Earl) on March 7, 1956 in Windsor, VT.

Darry, a lifelong resident of West Windsor, graduated from Windsor High School (1974), and went on to attend Castleton State College (until 1978), where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Mathematics. After graduating college, Darry began his professional career as a high school math teacher at Windsor High School while also coaching HS softball. After leaving teaching, Darry went to work at Coca-Cola for two years before deciding to begin a career in engineering. Darry started his career at Splitball Bearing, later known as Timken Aerospace, and stayed with the company until his retirement in 2019. After retirement, Darry took on a part time job to keep himself busy. He was never one to sit idle.

Darry was incredibly proud of his children and loved watching his children grow up. Darry was a lover of sports, playing softball for many years of his life, with his children watching him from the sidelines. Darry especially enjoyed attending his children's sporting events all through their childhood years. The family is also grateful he enjoyed many memories and experiences with his grandson.

Darry was an avid fan of watching New England sports teams on TV, and if he ever missed the game, he would be reading about what he missed in the morning newspaper. Darry also loved the outdoors and spending time on the family farm, haying in the summer months, and maple sugaring during the spring. Darry raised livestock and became the farmer he always wanted to be. While lost too soon, he lived and passed away doing his favorite things in his favorite place.

Darry is survived by his children, son Jeremiah Alexander of Burlington, VT and daughter, Deidre Strutz(spouse Adam) and grandson, Carter Strutz of Rochester, NY. Brothers, Keith Alexander (spouse Denise), Dennis Alexander (spouse Donna) and sister Vicki LaFlamme (spouse Todd), along with several nieces and nephews.

Darry is predeceased by his parents, Wesley and Joyce Alexander.

Burial services will be held at Sheddsville Cemetery in West Windsor on November 23,2024 at 11am weather permitting. A gathering to celebrate Darry's life will be held immediately following the burial services at the West Windsor Grange Hall even if the graveside does not take place. Service and gathering are open to family and friends. Those wishing may make memorial donations to the Lucy MacKenzie Humane Society, P.O. Box 702 Brownsville, Vermont 05037
