David A. Bunker, Sr.
Charlestown, NH - David Alan Bunker, Sr. died peacefully surrounded by family in Hanover, NH at the Jack Byrne Hospice Center on June 28, 2024 at the age of 77.
David was born on March 1, 1947 in Newport, NH to Fredrick and Alice Bunker.
He attended the Newport school district. He married Janet Bunker, his high school sweetheart, on December 19, 1987 and they were married for 36 years. She was the absolute love of his life until his last breath. After high school Janet moved away to California to be with her sister and moved back 17 years later and her and David unexpectedly ran into each other in Claremont after he got done performing on stage at Monadnock Park and they were together ever since. During those 17 years he had 4 children and adopted one as his own. Tammy Rizza and her husband, Steve of Wasola, MO, Hollie Bunker and her fiancé, Don Kiesiner of Charlestown, NH, Tonia Flanders and her partner, Bob Knapp of Lebanon, NH, Tracy Conroy and her husband, Chris of Newport, NH, as well as 2 step sons, Hugh Bastian and his wife, Lisa of Arnaudville, LA and Charles Bastian and his wife, Karlyn of Charlestown, NH, and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Predeceased by his father Frederick, mother Alice Bunker, and his son David Alan Bunker II.
Music was his passion; he played guitar and sang his entire life. He also loved wood working throughout the years making many pieces of furniture for family members as well as making sure his property was the nicest one in town. He was a generous and dedicated person when it came to his family and loved his grandkids so much and "there are a lot of them" as he would say. Beyond his wife Janet, his grandkids were his world, and wanted nothing but the best for all of them.
David is also survived by his 4 siblings: Cindy Gobin Boudrieau and her husband Jerry, Joanne Lapine, Melanie Parker and her partner Pete, and Michael Bunker.
His children remember him as a kind, loving, and big hearted dad who was always there when they needed him. He will be greatly missed.
Friends and family are welcome to celebrate David's life with a visitation from 9:00 am to 11:00 am on Monday, July 8, 2024 at Newton-Bartlett Funeral Home, 42 Main Street, Newport, NH, with a funeral service starting at 11:00 am, followed by burial at Pine Grove Cemetery in Newport.
