Edward James Gilbert

Lebanon, NH — Edward James Gilbert passed away peacefully at his home on January 22, 2022 after a >6 year courageous fight with pancreatic cancer.

Edward was born in Berlin, NH on April 17, 1952, the son of Wilfred and Alice (Hurley) Gilbert. His father nicknamed him "Mick".

Edward married Rosalie (Fife), the love of his life, on May 22, 1976. They made a home in Lebanon, NH and raised their three children. He secured a position at Split Ball Bearing (now Timken Aerospace), where he worked for ~34 years.

Edward loved the Lord Jesus and was deeply devoted to his family. No matter how many hours he worked, he returned home and offered to help. Ed enjoyed spending time with family, watching westerns, golf, and traveling. To the very last day of his life, Ed had a sense of humor that lit up a room.

Edward is predeceased by his son James Gilbert, and is survived by his wife Rosalie Gilbert, daughter Professor Penney Gilbert and her husband Professor Aaron Reinke (Canada), and son Joshua Gilbert and his fiancée Heather Kimball (NH), who own Gilly's Auto. He has three grandchildren; Nathan Gilbert, Taylor Kimball, and Kylee Mallia-Gilbert. He is also survived by four siblings; William (GA), Albert (NH), Joseph (FL), and Helen Marcou (NH).

His family is eternally grateful for the loving care provided by PA Lisa Buck Rogers (FHC), Dr. Kathryn Hourdequin (DHMC), and the Bayada hospice team including Dr. Barbara Lazar.

A celebration of life will be held at 11am on Saturday February 5, 2022 at the Valley Bible Church in White River Junction, VT. Donations in his memory can be directed to Norris Cotton Cancer Center.
