All of us at Derby Academy send our deepest condolences to Jane's family and friends. She was the school's oldest living alum and certainly an inspiration to many. A life well lived.

Oh, Dear Jane ... Donald and I are so sorry to lose you to greater glory. We haven´t even talked together since that cheery Christmas phone call with you and Kate and Bill, over a year ago, but we remember so fondly all those simple wonders of our "tea" visits and such on Monhegan, the literary overtones and where the fringed gentians grew, so often shared with Ginny and other Monhegan-besotted friends. We´ll miss you so much while we´re here but I can imagine an eventual grand reunion. Won´t that be wonderful! We love you, Jane. (D & I)

My mother and Jane were best of friends for a lifetime, beginning with their meeting at Smith College. I last spoke with Jane this summer about all her political activities . She never stopped. I visited her for her 100th birthday in Vermont. She will be sorely missed as a force of nature and intellect. They broke the mold when she and my mother died. My condolences to Kate and the family.
