Robert H. Capossela

North Pomfret, VT — Robert Henry Capossela, 88, passed at the VA Medical Center in White River Junction, VT on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 from heart failure. He was born in Tarrytown, NY on September 12, 1932 to Mary (Macko) and John Capossela.

As a 20-year-old Marine, Robert was awarded a Letter of Commendation from Maj. General Edwin Pollock for his efforts as a Rifle Coach (recruit qualification percentage of over 90%) at Weapons Battalion on Parris Island, SC. Robert was commended for his outstanding professional ability and devotion to duty on one of the most important jobs in the Marine Corps. He was also awarded the National Defense Service Medal. He was highly recommended for re-enlistment but decided to return to his home in NY.

Upon returning to NY, Robert worked for Simmonds Aerocessories, building experimental engines for the development of fuel injection. A skilled metal craftsman, he went on to independently create unique tools, while selling and servicing all tools. Robert created the fireplace enclosures incorporated by Hawk Mountain Resorts.

Robert's life was filled with service to his family and others. He was the man to go to with your problems. He is greatly missed.

Robert is survived by his wife, Frances Capossela of North Pomfret, VT; children, Gina Capossela of Sharon, VT, Rob Capossela of Bridgewater, VT, Marla Capossela of Woodstock, VT, and Bari (Vincent) Ramirez of Woodstock, VT; brothers, John (Claire) Capossela of Garrison, NY, Bruce (Marguerite) Capossela of Peekskill, NY, and Dennis (Lou) Capossela of Thornwood, NY; and many nieces and nephews.
