David Smith Obituary

David Scott Smith passed away at home surrounded by his loving family Feb. 16, 2001, after a long fight with cancer. He was born Dec. 31, 1953, son of Emerson Lee Smith and Virginia Moffat Smith. He was a resident of Apple Valley for the last five years. He was a 1977 graduate of the University of Utah College of Mining as a mining engineer and was employed by TXI Riverside Cement. Scott worked in the mining industry for 34 years (Arizona, Guyana, South America and California) and was a member of the Society of Mining, Metallurgy and Exploration for 25 years. He was preceded in death by his mother, Virginia Moffat Smith. He is survived by his wife Rebecca Jo; son Austin Lee; daughter Brett Ann; father Emerson Lee Smith of Utah and brother Jeffrey Lee Smith (Susan) of Alaska. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Dudley Mortuary in Apple Valley. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Huntsman Cancer Research Institute Salt Lake, Utah, or Loma Linda Hospice. Dudley Apple Valley Mortuary in Apple Valley is handling arrangements.
