Ruben Lara Sr.
Ruben Lara Sr. died April 13, 2008, in Barstow. He was born Jan. 4, 1921, in Troy, Calif.
Ruben was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II. He worked for the Santa Fe Railroad for 35 years.
Surviving Ruben are his children, Ruben Lara Jr., Albert Lara, Anna Jakubczyk and her husband, Ted, all of Barstow, Genevieve Lara of Escondido, Alexandria Lara of San Diego, and Robert Lara and his wife, Wendy of Chandler, Ariz.; grandchildren, Monica Carson, Clarence Lara, Brian Lara, Mark Lara, Clarissa Lara, Richard Moya, Dennis Moya and Loren Lara all of Barstow, Courtney Hernandez, Tommy Stallings, and Robert Lara Jr. all of Las Vegas, Nev., Albert Lara Jr. of Buena Park, Lucette Landeros, Ryan O'Neal and MeMarie Sanchez and Andrew Lara, all of San Diego, Amanda Lara, Nathanial Lara, Cole Lara, Korissa Walters, Parker Walters, and Josh Walters, all of Chandler, Ariz. He was abundantly blessed with 32 great-grandchildren. His Cup Runneth over.
Visitation will be Wednesday, April 16, 2008 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Mead Mortuary, 36930 Irwin Road. Funeral service will be Thursday, April 17, 2008, at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church, 1320 Barstow Road, with burial to follow at Mt. View Memorial Park, 37067 Irwin Road.

My heart goes out to the Lara family.
Ruben was a great joy to be around full of life had a great sense of humor. Laughter was his key of living a great long life. He would be miss by all of us, even the ones that he meet for a few times.
