On July 2, 2024, Bruce Thornton transitioned to be with our Heavenly Father at the age of 73. A memorial service will be held in his honor at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 27, 2024, at 2nd Missionary Baptist Church, 2001 Dallas St, Waco TX.

Bruce was born to Carrie Sharp and Devoy Thornton Jr. in Mart, Texas on December 1, 1950. His early years were heavily influenced by his grandfather, Henry Sharp, and his grandmother, Beulah Sharp, who instilled a love of God and family in him and his siblings. Bruce loved to sing and was a member of the choir at St. Mary's Baptist Church in Mart, Texas.

Bruce married his college sweetheart, Diana Davis, and together, they shared over 48 years of unwavering love and devotion; raising their boys, Brian and Patrick. Fatherhood was the center of Bruce's life, and his home was a sanctuary of warmth and laughter, where family gatherings were treasured moments filled with joy. His tenure as President of the Texas Society of Respiratory Care showcased his compassionate care and dedication, leaving a lasting impact on both Patients and colleagues alike.
