Kenneth Krause Obituary

Krause, Kenneth

November 30, 1940 - February 16, 2024

Kenneth Arthur Krause went to be with the Lord Friday, February 16, 2024. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at Trinity Lutheran Church at Badger Ranch with Rev. Kevin Lentz officiating. Burial will follow on Thursday, February 22, 2024, at Laurel Oaks Cemetery in Mesquite, TX. Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home.

Kenneth always had a smile and cared about others. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed cheering on the Texas Rangers, Dallas Cowboys and the Austin College Kangaroos.  He loved to work in the yard and ride his John Deere tractor.  His favorite day of the week was Sunday attending church.  His most cherished times were spent watching his grandchildren play sports.  If you ever met Kenneth, you knew you made a new friend.

Kenneth was born November 30, 1940, in Chicago, Illinois, to Arthur Krause and Hazel Laukert Krause. He grew up in Dallas and attended Sunset High School where he was Vice-President of his senior class.  He attended Austin College where he was a three-year football letterman, and served in student government and on the President's Council.  Kenneth served in the US Air Force Reserves.  In 1968, he married Sue Murphy who attended Sunset High School with him.

Kenneth worked for State Farm Insurance in Dallas, TX and West Monroe, LA, and retired as an agency manager in Waco after 38 years.  He received numerous sales awards and was a Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter.  He was former President of the local chapter of Life Underwriters and was a long-time member of the Waco Rotary Club.

Kenneth enjoyed coaching and serving as President of Midway Little League.  He served on the Midway ISD School Board for 12 years. Kenneth was also a very avid supporter of The Special Olympics.

Kenneth was a member and Elder of Trinity Lutheran Church at Badger Ranch, and the former President of the Church Council and Sunday School teacher at St. Matthew Lutheran Church.

He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur Krause, and mother, Hazel Krause.  He is survived by his wife, Sue Murphy Krause; son Kevin Krause, wife Kirsten, grandchildren Kacee, Kendall and Kate; daughter Kellye Krause Daniel, husband Matt, grandchildren Kyle and Kara; sister Karen Redding, and husband Bob, of McKinney, TX; and nephews Todd Redding, wife Erin, and Scott Redding, wife Quinn.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the exceptional care provided by the Visiting Angels, especially LaToya, Lucette, Virginia, and Wanda.

Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church at Badger Ranch. The family invites you to leave a message or memory on Kenneth's "Tribute Wall" at www.WHBfamily.com.

Sue and Family,
I had the privilege to work with Ken in our Agency Manager role. He was always a gentleman, well-respected and professionally focused on the work effort.
His smile was a wonderful asset and it was always present. You two were always a joy to be around. You were blessed as a family.
My warmest regards knowing God is in charge of Ken, you and yours today and every day ahead.

Kenneth...what a guy. Our office was next to Kenneth at the American Bank-3rd floor for many years. We all became friends and always enjoyed seeing Kenneth's smile and kindness. For the family and friends, my hearts goes out to all. Kenneth will be missed by many.

I first met Kenneth during freshman orientation at Austin College in the fall of 1959. We were classmates and later became fraternity brothers. He always had a smile and a supportive word for people. I know from conversations in later years that family was his first priority in life. He was one of the good guys of this world.
