Weldon Kaddatz Obituary

Weldon (Sonny) Kaddatz, 85, of Hillsboro, died Friday, Aug. 18, 2006, at Providence Health Care Center in Waco. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 20, 2006, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors East Side Chapel in Hillsboro with Donald (Bubba) Radke officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Garden of Memory. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Weldon was born March 16, 1921, in Malone, where he grew up, the son of Karl Herman Edward and Annie Alice Emma (Radke) Kaddatz. During WWII, he served in the U.S. Army in Italy. On Oct. 11, 1946, he married Frances Maass. He farmed in the Malone and Bynum areas for many years and served as Postmaster in Bynum from 1966-1990. He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Walling Community in Hill County. Preceding him in death were his parents; son-in-law, Mark Rice; sister, Lillian Hodde; and brother-in-law, Eddie Lentz. Survivors include his wife, Frances Kaddatz of Hillsboro; daughters, Donna Rice of Bay City and Jan Russell and husband, David of Hillsboro; brothers, Alvin (Cowboy) Kaddatz and wife, Nancy of Hillsboro and Ervin Kaddatz and wife, Mary of West; sister, Ruby Lentz of Waco; grandchildren, Marci Williams and husband, Preston of Pearland, Mandi Rice of Bay City, Jaime Doyle and husband, Dusty of Amarillo, and Jacy Russell of Dallas; and special pups, Zoe, Mia, Lena, Lola.
