Wendy Johnson Moody Obituary

Wendy Michelle Johnson Moody

Oct. 5, 1974 - May 6, 2022

Wendy Michelle Johnson Moody, age 47, passed away at her home in Las Colinas, Texas, May 6, 2022, and ascended to her heavenly home. Wendy succumbed to long-term complications from Systemic Scleroderma, an autoimmune system disorder. Her parents Pauline (Polly) Medart Johnson and Jerry F. Johnson invite family and friends to join them in a Celebration of Life Memorial to be held on Sunday, June 12, 2022 at 3pm. The location is Crossroads Baptist Church, 5050 Old Lorena Rd. in Lorena, Texas.

Wendy was born in Lufkin, Texas, October 5, 1974. At age 3, she and her parents moved from Nacogdoches back to her parents' hometown of Waco and settled in Hewitt. Her parents moved their church membership from Calvary Baptist Church in Nacogdoches to First Baptist Church Woodway where Wendy continued to learn and grow in her faith resulting in her profession of faith when she was nine years old.

She attended St. Paul's Episcopal School and Waco Baptist Academy before entering Midway High School. She was a member of the National Honor Society, Girls' Choir and Variety Choir. During her high school years Wendy enjoyed volunteering for two local agencies, as well as participating in her church youth mission trips.

During Wendy's college search, she was awarded the James E. Casey Foundation Scholarship and National Merit Scholarship Awards. She earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Financial Planning, cum laude, from the University of North Texas. Later, she completed a Master of Business Administration from the University of Texas at Dallas. At Fidelity Investment Inc. Wendy earned her Series 7 and 63 Securities Licensure. She found her calling in regulatory work as a Financial Examiner for the Texas State Securities Board, Inspections & Compliance Division.

Wendy married John Harrison Moody in June, 1995. They amicably separated in 2006, divorced in 2009, and continued a supportive friendship. Wendy was known for her compassion in helping others, quick wit, love for traveling, the mountains, and cool mountain breezes.

Survivors include Wendy's beloved long-time friend, Jeff Villard, of Waco, whom she enjoyed spending time. In addition, Jeff regularly gave a listening ear, calm and intelligent debate, advice, and a helping hand. Since Wendy's passing her grieving parents believe Jeff has been sent by God to help them through this difficult journey. Jeff's kindness, hard work, and advice is deeply appreciated.

Other survivors include aunts and uncles: Ralph B. Medart, Gloria and Steve Patrick, Joyce and Jack Hennig; all residing in the Waco area, and Glenn and Cindy Johnson from Bertram, TX. Cousins are: Rick Reid, Kim Parker Jackson, Shelley Medart Wyatt, Sonya Hennig Singleton, David Johnson, Sharon Johnson Gripp, Crystal Johnson Davis, Kevin Patrick, and Katie Patrick. The younger family members are: Joe, Grayson, Jacob, Blayne, Kaley, Madysen, Kylie, Ian, Zuri, Riya, Will, Colleen, Henri, Phen, Logan, Raven, and Shane. Wendy's other survivors are a wonderfully spirited great aunt and cousins in Oklahoma and Arkansas.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Scleroderma Research Foundation or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Pauline-
I am so sorry to read about your daughter. It's been quite a few years since I last saw you at Connie Merryman Hester's wedding and she and my daughter Aimee were flower girls.
God be with you,
